i dont think revo do a map for the GT28. im asure they only do the GT30 BT upgrades. might be wrong though....

Consider these 1/4 mile times. For instance JonnyC's Ed30 was faster at stage2+ than with a GT30 big turbo. then consider the other big turbos are lower down the pecking order ie regals Gt28 was only quicker than the stage 1 and 2 cars but not the stage 2+ cars

To be fair though jonny only took the BT build car down santa pod once and the conditions were rubbish.

Granted though, his stage 2 TTRS does seem to be a quicker car than his old big turbo S3.

Id be tempted to put a hybrid in an s3 or golf R but other than that stage 2+ is enough. BT is not something that appeals to me.

Im not sure, depends on under what conditions you mainly do WOT runs.

Third gear on with a hybrid should put the power down just as well as a non hybrid stage 2+, most of the gains will be higher up the rev range.

Surely Jonny knew what he was doing when doing BT on his Ed30 GTI? I cant believe he would have thrown £5-10k at an idea that was fundamentally flawed...

Big power through fwd will always be fundamentally flawed ;)

The TTRS at stock can spin all for of its 255 width wheels when launching, and do 4 wheel power slides.

Hybrids generally produce less torque but more bhp high up.

The 420bhp giac car has only got -3 timing pull now on it's current map.

Ok, just quickly.. Lets not forget that there was ICE on the ground the day that I ran the ED30 in big turbo spec.. lol..

Forget the times.. Even with no traction until 4th the car still got a 119mph trap speed.. Trust me, that car was seriously fast!! And NO K04 2.0T FSI would be anywhere near it in any circumstance..

Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to run the car on a good day to do its performance justice.. Oh well..

Does that mean its not now 420bhp?

SEAT leons can still run a map successfuly up to -9 om timing pull and it is not uncommon for the to be at -5, or -3.

Sure any negative timing numbers show that the ECU is fighting (pulling back) but it can still make 420 bhp and produce a smooth graph.

My car pulled 315 yesterday with a smooth graph and albeit I have not seen the logs yet was running at -3

Is that not the same day that K04 cars were still doing usual K04 times though?

Also, as I recall, you swapped back to the K04 turbo before you sold the Golf?

Tbh the times a ko4 was doing hasn't got much relevance to his bt car. At low speeds my friends nodded type r could keep up with my k1, then it wasn't till 3rd, 4th etc that I just left him behind.

The 119 term shows that it was quick, however from that one result we cannot determine how it would do against a ko4 in a 30-120 shootout

surprised at that.

Had two mates who had fully modded CTR's up until last year mate had a mk1 type R and spend a few grand on modifying it. as in full decat exhaust system, different ECU etc. he stopped short of doing the supercharger conversion.

My vRS at stage 1 was ever so slightly quicker than his fully modified type R(about 240hp iirc), at Stage 2 it was noticeably faster, and stage 2+ it annihilated him big style, it used to destroy him, in every gear from every speed increment without fail. Plus even with full coilovers mine was more comfy than his stock suspension lol. He now runs the new vRS TSI, and the other guy has now got an EVO.

the next point is, JC had pretty much every top end handling mod available, with top end tyres MUCH wider than stock. iirr they were R888s @ around 255 wide and to be fair they would have been upto temp after a quick burnouts at the beginning the fact that you still couldnt put power down, just goes to show how much of a waste of time it is to go past stage 2+ k04 power in a FWD

What power was your mate's Type R Pov? I used to have one and they can be quick fookers in the right hands..

It was running 280 n/a ponies, quickest type r around without forced induction. Thing is shanes stock k1 keeps with me in first and 2nd aswell, purely because you cannot put all te 360 ponies down.

Oh the ctr is stripped aswell
