Hadnt been online over the wknd - but DEFO doing this when I get home tonight! Did you boys pull the rubber off and then slit it or just take a stanley knife to it on the car?

Hummm, now to find a stanley knife! LOL!

Yer it looks cack but I totally agree with Tez, if it cures it this winter - ill redo all the door seals over the summer one at a time and then renew all the rubber! But for a quick fix to stop damp at the mo, defo!

exactly, this was a quick fix for winter.

I stuck some cardboard under the rubber seal to protect the sill then cut with a stanley. its easy rubber to cut.

Rained here last night, opened the door this morning........

.....no water was trapped between the door and sill anymore :) plus in the dust on the sill you can see where the wate has round out.

result.

:wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf: That looks horrible i would no way do that to the seals.

i just made sure the holes in the door were clear and took the door seal of and cleaned it and that worked.

Its on view for a few seconds at a time so its not really a big deal, doesnt look that bad, however not in keeping with the VAG premium quality look (apparently...)

but then they should have designed the thing properly in the first place and not spent ages over engineering the cupholder.

Will replace it when i sell the car after christmas, easy enough to get one from a breaker.

"spent ages over engineering the cupholder."

Why is it every time i have some one new sat in the passenger seat they always have to press the cup holder and put it back in and then press again. Looks like Seat spent ages over engineering the cupholder to entertain the more simple minded passengers

exactly what i said when i mentiond how i cured it
lee may i plz have your crown as god pls lol

sorry to you all for my crapness with the pics though

yes it looks naff but id rather this than have the car stinking of damp, going out 10 mins early in the morning drying the inside of the mindows and scraping them in winter (iv been there), not getting wet feet when i open the door and not having newts making them self at home lol
no extra noise and no drafts, the seal on the door its self goes over the slit and more or les stops it but wont push up to tight on the slit so the water just runs away

balls to 200 quid to seat and balls to any other fixing tape and sealent lol

 Ha i remember sitting in my car last winter waiting for it to defrost and wonder if any one else has to get up twice as early due to having to scrape the ice from the out side and then again in the inside with a credit card
Will not miss that! Explains why it felt colder in side the car and warmer outside because of the damp air.

because its a very german thing to do.

they would rather spend ££££££ and loads of time on a hidden fag lighter that appears from a hidden panel in the dash with a silky smooth movement rather then sorting out doors that leak and naff electrics :D

"my Coil packs keep failing, but on the upside, the fag lighter is a work of art"

good one VAG, GOOD ONE!

We now have a new Limited edition. The Seat Leon Swimming pool. Sadly it didnt come with optional swimming trunks. Brand new mats soaked through on both passenger and drivers side. Now we got the car about 5 weeks ago from a used car dealership so im hoping they will cover us for the repair. Or at least do the work if i supply the stuff required. I may even blag that the TIP is collapsing and ill pay for the part if they fit it....

So true, I think the next person who sits in the front again will be mandatory to have hands zipped tied together.

The last time it was a mate of a mate who was quite drunk so she asked me for a lift home but she had a fair amount to drink. So me being a perfect gent said ok and as soon as she sat in the car she started playing with the cup holder  Then when she went to close the door she slammed it! :-o No one can never shut Leon doors correctly unless they own one. Then the glove box handle as i had locked it and she could not work out why it would not open as she just wanted to see what was inside?. Its was the last draw when she started touching my radio and f**king up all the settings and whacking Sub to MAX setting. :ban:

The only thing that was going through my mind then was "roses are red violets are blue, Get in the f**king boot

Did you talk about any warranty when buying the car? As mate just got his newish leon and they gave him 3 months. Good luck

i know what you mean about the doors too, its like the hinges are made out of well oiled bannana skins
iv never had any one get in the car, slam the door so hard i nearly fall out the other side lol
i think its due to haveing good hinges on a heavy feeling door, and i think it gets worse with age/miles, mine has done 117k now and you can SLAM it shut with a finger...

You know what, my kids keep doing the same thing, they out of the car and are used to having to push the wifes car doors quite hard to shut them. They slam them that hard, i'm sure the shock wave will break the glass. just a slight touch is needed.

Don't get me started on the cup holder. A spring must be broken on mine, in order to use it, i have to pull the cover off with a credit card, then pull the holder out, put the drink in the holder then put the cover back on. :censored:

my personal fav is the fan controls for the heater. one min its on a low setting, so you want to bump it up 2 settings, then it hammers straight up to colin McRae speed.

i just want a nice gentle waft of cool air to massage my person, not a full blown gale simulation in the car ffs.

Arrr the trick with that is to put it on the windscreen - the air then wafts around the cabin nicely :D

BRILLIANT
bannana skins, fall out the other side.
I keep saying to peeps who slam my door, "Oi Its not a BMW door, where you need to slam the doors so hard due to the fact they are made out of recycled puma tanks!"

We didnt no, thats what cocerned me. Popped back today and explained the problem told him it wasa cheap thing to fix but time consuming and that i couldnt do it.They are going to take it back and strip it down to look into it as they hadnt heard of it before. Told him it was very common and i would print out the guide on here to show them exactly whats going on. They are more than happy to look into it and repair as they have other Seats for sale so will benefit them for the future and give him something to look for when he buys his cars in.

this anoys me too
you take it off auto, set the temp to a steady 22, set it to just blow a little air in the car, drive up the road and you have a force 10 tornado coming out of the dash bord,
AND when its cold out side and you want to warm up a bit, set it to high all is fine then suddenly your face starts to melt...
