For god sakes make sure your tyre pressures are bang on to manufacturer spec!

Makes a massive difference to mine... 40mpg to 48 mpg on motorway runs!

This is a very good point, also weight in the back and such like can make a big difference.
If a have a full tank of fuel it knocks off about 1-2mpg compared to quarter of a tank!

As long as you don't have a tires that has one at 50psi at thew rear 45psi for the other rear tire and 40psi at the front as checked at PDI from the dealer !! Made for a slightly frim ride  Oh and the headligts cut out to early distance wise due to the rear being too high!!!

currently got around 3500 miles on mine and getting an average of 45.5mpg which i havent reset since having the car. See anything from 40 - 52mpg on a run depending on speed and traffic. Round town i'm seeing mid 40's which for the type of car is pretty good imo.

I'm getting around 43mpg in my FL FR, covered around 2800 miles with 'enthusiasm' which may explain the slightly low figure. Can't have performance without putting fuel on the fire

I reckon mine must have rolled out of the dealers at 50psi all round  Checked them a few weeks later and they were all at around 45... Although, I put them to the recommended levels from the fuel cap and they looked flat

hi
ive had a 57 reg fr for a month and covered about 2k miles in it.i had a 55 reg golf 140bhp which i had remapped.i have to say i wish i never swapped it it was faster and about 10mpg better on all driving,i drove it hard all the time im not even driving this as hard and its loads worse.ive booked it in garage to check it out.its doing mainly 40mpg combined but my big problem is with foot down on motorway im getting 30mpg thats never right.

The 30 mpg sounds odd. I get about 45 mpg with a bit of every style of driving in. I also travelled to Liverpool doing a steady 90+mph and got 48mpg. It's all about movingup and down the revs. Keep them steady even at high speeds and it gives you a better mpg.

i do mate it just wont do more than 30 at that exact speed and if i put cruise on its slightly worse, they must be a problem with it.i have to drive about 70 to get 40average i would expect 50 at that speed

the worse thing my mates got a 3 series coupe 3l turbo diesel he drives it like hes stole it and still gets 40mpg make the little leon look even worse,i hope the dealer can sort something out.maybe dpf is blocked or something or maybe i need to get it mapped like the golf was and hope i dont need as many new clutches:(

Mine has been remapped to 211bhp and i'ver never had under 40mpg on a tank even in winter with the heated seats on. I think there is a problem with it unless you're doing very short journeys at brake neck speeds.

I've done nearly 11k now and I'm getting just less than 48mpg over a tank, thats driving it quite hard and with a daily commute of 60miles, some
Motorway and lots
Of stop start.

The best I've had is 53mpg and the worst is about 35 when nipping to the supermarket.

To be honest I'm quite pleased with that.

Sounds like you have an issue a guess would be the DPF/Sensor casing over fuelling. As the in your PD engin you should be getting the same as you did in your Golf. I would get it checked out as the consumption is too high. 38-40 mpg seems about right for the PD engine.

Sadly the VAG 170 engine does seem to be having recurring problems across the marques with injectors and the DPF. If you brought it from a garage and have warranty on it get it checked out.

I got my fr in august, just clocked 23k and I get around 50/52 mpg on a long run - that's cruise control at 70! If I do 80 or above I'll get around 40/43 mpg

My gf's mum has a leon stylance 2.0 tdi 140 and it is WAY better on fuel than my stage 2 fr with dpf delete(which is suppose to increase mpg). If sit at 80-90 with a bit of booting it, ill be lucky to see 33-35 mpg. I have drove my gf's mum's 140 and obviously it is fairly slow but the fuel consumption is easily 6-8mpg better driving in the same manner.
If i give the car serious stick i have seen it as low as very late teens and early 20's( again with driving it like i stole it!)

The FR PD170 is s**t on fuel for a diesel

Just my 2p as there may be nothin wrong with yours

well if i sit at 80-90 its still in the 40s which is one thing i love about the fr doing those speeds with a decent mpg.
