The timing belt arrangement is a nightmare, turns a simple job into a major headache! Most things on the 1.8T engine all seem to be difficult and a pain to do.

Yeah I know, but then you also have to buy new bearings, new piston rings, a tool to hone the cylinders, etc. etc. it all adds up.

It would be a wise move to put some rods in there though rob...Just keep it off the road that bit longer...
I got mine from INA £272 posted to the uk....
Rob you wouldn't need to use new rings a slight hone would do but new ones would help..they are £72 for a full set
The OEM rod bearings from bdm are £25 for a full set..
Shame your so far away as you could of used all my bits...like honing tool and torco..
Sayin that pay the postage and il send them up and when your done send them back...
