Reason I went with IE rods is because Issam told me his rods were not tanged, I wanted tanged rods and bearings so went IE, plus they have a proven track record too. Everything I've had from INA in the past I've had to pay import duty and VAT on it.

Dave i bought a fair amount from INA and havent handed over a penny..

INA does Rods with Tangs in them but im guessing you have the 19mm Pins?

I got them from him 20mm scat one which came with tangs..

Good luck on this though rob :D

Yep, 19mm wrist pins. No worries, all these rods are all far superior to the stock rods anyway.

I spoke to Pete at IE so am going to go for a set of one-piece inconel exhaust valves (to eliminate another weak point in the engine).

I also got an email from IE today saying my rods and bearings have been despatched and a tracking number too - now that's service!

I'm torn between rebuilding my own one or doing the exchange with BDM - haven't heard back from Alex yet as I told him my head was ready for exchange.

I got new stem seals with the gasket kit so am tempted to rebuild it myself and use the cash towards the inconel valves.

Yeah me too...

Its just getting the valves out which is a utter pain....Have you Rang around much to get prices on building...Like a Enginnering place....

I got a price from a place just to Skim It was £30....You have all the parts just ring around and find the cheapest...

Edit:

About the oil it would be interesting to now this actually..As your Re-using the rings i thought normal oil would be fine...

Would be interesting to know..

I have decided to rebuild my own head, the money saved on not doing the exchange I will put towards the new one-piece inconel exhaust valves. I haven't heard back from Alex about the exchange head anyway.

I am going to port-match the inlet ports to the SEM manifold and just clean out all the ports and surfaces etc. I have a new set of valve stem oil seals ready to fit and will lap all the valves in.

I'm going to do what Roly did and modify a 10mm spark plug socket which fits the small inlet valves to get them out.

I were off work yesterday having a 4d scan of the baby :)

Its good your doing it yourself. Saves loads of money. Not sure why you would just do the exhaust valves. Standard ones only really have issues when reved too high or not fitted correctly. Mark still runs standard valves in the race TT. If your going to do valves then do the lot inc springs and retainers.

Dont go too mad on the porting. You dont want to hit a water way ;)

Are you doing new rings?

I have printed that off Bill, yes I will be very careful.

No worries Alex, hope all went well. Just doing the exhaust as they are an identified weak point, if I'm pulling it all apart I might as well eliminate another weakness. Porting will be very mild, just cleaning up really but want to port-match to the SEM for a cleaner flow into the port.
