Originally i thought it may be top mount bearings, but there isnt any movement in the strut at all, which i would of thought would be a tell tale sign of em failing unless im wrong??

Trust me it did f**k me off for a while, but i just turn the tunes up now and forget about it as it has had no affect in the way it drives.

I will get round to taking it somewhere soon to have it checked, just to make sure i aint missed anything.

+2. Mine makes a bang bang noise if i go over drains in the roads or when the road has been dug up and filled and its sunk. Seems to be quick shock movements to the suspension thats when it makes it. Its all from the rear of the car. I am not sure if it could even be the rear interior panels inside. Its not the boot trim either. But ye its sounds horrible, More so when people comment on it lol.

Well i had the same sorta knocking sound b4, but a bit not as loud and seat repaced the following to cure the problem:-
- Front ARB
- Droplinks
- Power Steering Rack and Pump
- Top Mounts

and it still was Knocking, it turned out to be the front Engine mount! lol

so i no every thing that it could be has been replaced sorta. it is still annoying me tho! lol

I've got exactly the same. Didnt used to! But does now. I've replaced front wishbone bushes, (front and back of the wishbone) and it's still doing it. I'm 99% sure mine is the drivers side top engine mount too! Got one ordered and it should be here tomorrow so I can report back after the weekend!

i went from 205/40 17 PZeros to 215/40 17 T1Rs and this seems to have cured the knocking noise going over humps

i still get some knocking now and then when going round a bend over rough surface, kind of sounds like the steering rack isn't secured in place...i had all bushes and mounts replaced under warranty 1 yr and 2 months ago

Rear Axle bushes are worn on mine and as a result it makes knocking noises now and then, I replaced the front lower arm bushes and they're ok now.

Check your rear bushes

had a knocking myself a while back but was only now and then which was strange, anyway changed the drop links and all was good.

ive also replaced the bushes with cupra ones but that was more of a creaking noise than a knocking noise.

This problem really is the thorn in my side with my car, I have also had mine back and forth to my local seat garage and had many things replaced like steering rack, front and rear dampers and something to do with the steering column (can't remeber everything without looking at my file!)

The garage has said to me that they have done everything they possibly can and that any other parts on my car are all sound like the droplinks, bushes, top mounts etc etc.

I'm thinking of trying again as my warranty runs out soon but might try somewhere else as my garage seemd like they had enough-which is sh*t on their part.

The only thing I've heard that it could be but I'm sure someone else on here will tell me different is that when you have a sporty suspension setup even standard ones (like mine) that the surrounds for the suspension mountings become more plastiky than rubber and therefore make more of a noise-help me I'm guessing!

As you can tell I'm not a grease monkey or technical! And I'm clutching at straws!!! but I would love to know whats causing mine as al ot of peole complain about this on here.

Well been messing with the car all day to find out if i can trace the banging sound. Took all the rear seats and rear door cards off to had a good look and i did pad some places out.

The only thing i can think of with mine is the rear shock might be going. It never did this after i bought the car (10months ago), Plus going over speed bumps it makes a humming noise when it hits the speed bump and when going down it.

So think i might buy some Raceland coilovers, To help get rid of the crap and crashy ride that the stock Seat suspenion gives.

Well I've changed my engine mount and adjusted intercooler pipework and it still rattles. :( Not as much, but it does! Wonder if it's another engine mount?

Well i was having a look in the general area of the noise (drivers side front wheel) and behind the inner wheel arch there is two plastic tubes containing wires, i wonder if this is what is making the tapping noise knocking off the plastic?

looks like ours is the ARB hitting track rod ends.

got car up on ramps with wheels on and they are very close. I have noted a mark on the bar on the offside in the past.
