Noisey/Knocking Suspension

Any luck? Mine is going back in with same prob, been there ages but warranty runs out soon so want it sorted.

So before they fob me off with all is fine....I'm going to print all these pages off for a start, and tell them to check..

STILL DOES IT!

Mainly driver side - If car is parked with wheels on full lock right the ARB and track rod from steering rack are mighty close.

Is there other new parts required ?

I have exactly the same problem! Luckily mine is still under warrenty, had it in on Monday! The master tech explained that it is the ARB assembly, a common fault with them! Apparantly if there are any marks on the ARB it shows it has been touching other components, producing that annoying rattle. He showed me a print out from Seat UK with all pics etc and symptoms it would cause... He also said the the replacement parts are modified to resolve this problem and stop it from occuring in the future.
I too origionally thought that it was strut top bearings etc, but they said everything was fine.

car to car the parts required for change must vary. It's still too close on drivers side when wheel is turned and guy at garage was demonstrating to us that it still did it. It's defo the ARB still catching but how they will fix it i don't know.

The most common problem on all vw derived cars is the front anti-roll bar bushes. Ive had the same problem on my brothers cupra leon, my wifes leon sx and my ibiza fr tdi, all where sorted with new a.r.bushes. Good luck!!

+1 for ARB failure.

A slightly heavier knocking is caused when the ARB moves and bangs against the wishbone console. A doddle to check and change, and cost about £4 for the bushes.

My light knocking was a duff track rod end. Looked OK, but broken enough to make a noise.

SEAT replaced my ARB within warranty (apparently SEAT issued a revised ARB if cars had a knocking issue)...however, the clonking i get under lock and going over bumpy surfaces is not so much metal-sounding...so dunno whether it's simply the poor assembly/design of the setup

Mine's going in on Friday to have Cupra top mount bushes put in. Hopefully this'll stop my clunking. Otherwise I'm gonna torch it and claim arson on the insurance. It's doing my head in!

mine used to make a noise from the front ARB that was similar. The ARB especially seminally according to my local seat on the diesel models (non cupra) is prone to wear. The plastic clips and the bushes wear easily the clips break and result in a squeaking noise, and in my case now the arb bushes when they get we squeak and need 5k servicing of greese.

it's had new ARB and bushes (car is 07 so had new version anyway) new top mounts, they've had subframe out and greased all metal to matel touch points and it's still doing it.

We can predict it happening.........

i begining to think it's the steering rack but it only does it during slow speed turning
i'e parking

EGR. The newer Ibiza's - especially FR's seem to have a hell of a lot of problems with the EGR.

the BLT angine has an extra bit bolted to the EGR - acts a bit like a cold start choke.
Stops the surging a TDi does when engine is cold and air is cold

Has a little motor that controls a flap. It went tits up on the A3 we had. £180 !!

According to garage .....they now trying another top mount and a spring

The engine management light turned out to be a wiring fault to a sensor
(i reckon they unplugged something and forgot to plug it back in last time)

Ah brilliant mate!!!! Mine is in again on the 2nd as the revised ARB as you know didn't solve it! To be honest, i'm not going to point them in the direction of enything, the more parts that get replaced for new before march next year is a winner!lol

bit annoyed that i'm missing another screw from under tray and the top mount bolts are not OEM

i'll be giving them some earache in morning

AND NOW THERE'S A RATTLE IN THE STEERING COLUMN

I'M VERY VERY P155ED OFF NOW.

SICK OF 40 MILE ROUND TRIP TO DEALER.

How can the technician let a car go with wrong bolts and even worse no washers fitted .....?
thanks to him now the inner wing is chewed to bits. Suspension is safety critical items and in my experiance not something you'd want to fcuk up on

The undertray - this happens everytime it's been in. I had a supply of spare screws. The guide dog must have fogotten to mention the one in front drivers corner ! AGAIN
