ENGINE MANAGEMNT LIGHT IS BACK ON
AND NOW THERE'S A RATTLE IN THE STEERING COLUMN

I'M VERY VERY P155ED OFF NOW.

SICK OF 40 MILE ROUND TRIP TO DEALER.

How can the technician let a car go with wrong bolts and even worse no washers fitted .....?
thanks to him now the inner wing is chewed to bits. Suspension is safety critical items and in my experiance not something you'd want to fcuk up on

The undertray - this happens everytime it's been in. I had a supply of spare screws. The guide dog must have fogotten to mention the one in front drivers corner ! AGAIN

Sounds like you having alot of fun with the dealer. I would start rocking boats and making noise about it all, maybe some compo for fuel or something.

On another note, has anyone used the powerflex poly ARB bushes??? I'm considering getting some of these.

rattling is more of a creaking noise now i've had a play. Done some figure of 8's in a disused car park along road.

i'm sure i've heard the dreaded knock again too.

[:@]

the garage seem to be in too much of a hurry to get car off their hands.

:headhurt:

i'm really losing my patience.

My MK4 done the very same.My problem was the rear shocks on their way out so its up to you if u replace them with standard ones or if u fancy getting coilovers...
hope that helps:)

Same here, got the same problem.. I got told, the cars are built for a certain "road standard".. Lol

Everything checked, they found no problemo.. I feel it on my steering wheel, hear it and still they say it's nothing that can be seen.. I absolutely hate going up and down.. They must change my whole suspension, then it'll be sorted out. Hopefully....

Mine has the same problem - A knocking that can be heard and felt in the steering wheel going round a roundabout etc. I said to the garage when I left it in for the 40k service last week and they told me it was a fault on this model, it's the bar that runs between the front wheels is too long, and Seat have now made a replacement part. Mine is getting fitted this week under warranty. Hope it sorts it.

AND NOW THERE'S A RATTLE IN THE STEERING COLUMN

i have that as well, but only on bad roads while turning , it sounds worse when turning right. My sister had the same problem with her golf V and it was fixed, apparently there was a loose wiring loom that was rattling against the dash plastic

as for the suspension, I had these silver thingies replaced and it was over, but it wasn't a knock , it was more like a metallic tick.i don't know what part that is , something to do with bearings

Im just back from dealers again...this time they've changed the NEW ARB, I'd already had new arb fitted, this time they have taken it off and put it on back to front as they say it works better in the wrong position! Does actually seem a bit better on first impressions. Still got a steering rattle though! and when turning right over rough ground!

Away from car for a few days but I will when I get back, speak to your dealer as I was told it was one of the common "fixes" that Seat has specified they must do before they start fannying on replacing other parts. As I said its improved the clunk somewhat but not the rattle you can feel through the steering column. You'll have had half a new car under warranty if you keep this up!:D

the BLT angine has an extra bit bolted to the EGR - acts a bit like a cold start choke.
Stops the surging a TDi does when engine is cold and air is cold

Has a little motor that controls a flap. It went tits up on the A3 we had. £180 !!

According to garage .....they now trying another top mount and a spring

The engine management light turned out to be a wiring fault to a sensor
(i reckon they unplugged something and forgot to plug it back in last time)

fingers crossed again..........

You seem to be having as much luck as i did if your going to the one in durham , they are all a bunch of t0ssers last time i was in i lost my head with them :censored:

Mine has nearly been chopped in because i'm getting so frustrated with the niggly little faults the we keep getting told are a common fault! But then when i'm walking accross a car park and see it parked next to a corsa of fiesta etc I remember why I chose it!lol

Mine didn't used to have the knocking that comes through the steeting column, however now does since they fitted the revision ARB assembly... GRRRRR

When I was washing the car the other day I was toping up fluids etc and thought I would rock the engine and pay attention to the engine mount next to the coolant bottle, and supprise supprise it made kind of a popping / tappping sound, I wonder if it could be making the noise and traveling up the chassis?!?! I'm going to remove the mount and place some foam under and re-attach and see where that gets me! I'm fedup with being given the excuse that they are designed for a certain type of road surface!!!!!! Oh and since I had the new ARB fitted, that havn't alligned the suspension after and now inside of the front tyres is as bald as a nuns pu$%y!!! Chuffing SEAT>>>>>

Rant over!

for looks and power it has the best of all it's rivals...... besides we spent money on re-map and 312mm brakes .......

i've suggested getting a Mk4 golf Anniversary 150PD - it's the only one worth having but it means getting an older car with 5 times the miles

ours drives fine - it's slow speed turning that spoils it - usually with a big clunk.

about the steering rattle, my dealer thinks it's the bearing of the front suspension, he will take a look at it.

Mine is going back in as well. Its a joke. Everything is great then low speed and clunk clunk rattle rattle.

Mine is low speed, turning right, clunk-bangs, and the rattle you can feel through the steering column. Warranty has now expired but I can continue to complain about this specific problem if they havent fixed it correctly. Argh!

our is same

normal speeds and normal driving you forget about it.

Slow down and turn - Clunk / bang (metallic type) more so when turning left with ours
and everytime we park on or off drive at home.

we have warranty till March....not sure if my patience will last !
