Right well, recently purchased a ibiza 1.4 mk 3 off a chap off here, and after first drive in it was very pleased, and is such a good looking motor.

Came to my second drive of owning it on friday, and the electronics warning light came on, so pulled over, to consult the manual, which was no help, so gently drove home.
Then just as I pulled into my drive i noticed a wierd tapping noise from the back wheels, sounded like a stone stuck in a washing machine.

So that evening phoned a local Skoda dealer, who also do seats and he said hell pick it up and have a look first thing monday.

Anyway long story short, he left a message with my mum today, and said something bout a sensor gone which has put the warning light on, and apprently i also need a new handbrake assembly, as it was illegal, and new rear left brake, as something about 6 pieces inside the drum and 4 of them are missing and 1 is broken? (mum didnt relay the message too well)

Basically I could really do with the car asap as its my test on wednesday and have nothing to do it in now, so explained to the mechanic my situation, he said he can have it done by tuesday evening and it will be around £300 !!

does this sound about right, or is he having me on?
Just a shame its all happened after less than half an hour of driving my new car, especially just before my test as well.

:/ grumpy me
ben

given that the car is in bits (for them to have looked in the rear drums) it's a bit late to ask... but main dealers aren't ever the cheapest.

most of what you're paying is labour I bet.

Yeah i think im gunna ask around on here next time before taking it to a dealer.
Ive given the mechanic the go ahead this time purely because he said hell try an dget it done in time for my test, which has already been delayed a month and a half and I really don't want to wait any longer if I can help it.

Fingers crossed ill be driving my car around by the end of the week, if everything goes to plan :)

Well got the car back today, turns out it was 4x guidepieces in the brake
and it was the lambda probe which had gone, is this common?

Hey Benny! im shocked that the car has cost you so much already!
What was up with the handbrake assembly ?? i had never had a problem with it

Sorry that you have had problems with her, and its odd since she was running perfectly before.

Good luck with your test though!

Yeah it was weird, cause neither me or my dad noticed anything,

Not sure what the brake was about but he's charged about £40 to sort that,
And the lambda probe must have gone just after I got it from you.

Oh well, Test in 2 hours :)
