i have an 02 leon cupra; two SEAT branded keys that work the central locking and start the engine (i.e. they both have correct blades and immob chip). One of the keys was a remote one, but that functionality isn't working because a chip was broken off.

I got a (non-flip but remote) key off fleabay with exactly the same code (730 055-00, 433mhz, 5fa 007 680); it was actually a VW branded key when it came - it did have the above quoted code, although when you open it it is quite different.

Really don't get why this doesn't work!

Can I just be clear on the transponder part - from what I understand I need to get the one from my spare key and put this in the new flip key. But if the flip key already has a new transponder in it, can I programme this somehow? or should I just remove it and put in the one from the spare key?

Put your spare key one in. It will cost a fair bit to get your new one programmed

Well I now have one fully functional flip key! Followed the method on here, worked perfectly without any problems. I have the three key option with boot unlock, which works too to my surprise.

By the way, in all the methods it says the car should beep or sound the horn when its done. Mine did neither of these, but still worked.

DON'T buy any key fobs from ejaz0786 on ebay. I bid and won a 2 button key fob 2 weeks ago from this seller for £11.75 and i still haven't received the item i've paid for! The seller has offered me a full refund which i don't want (i want a 2 button key fob).
After checking this sellers feedback i've noticed that any bidder who's won with a bid below £12 hasn't received the item. I'd say this seller is at it and it isn't a co-incidence that this happens when someone wins the auction with a low bid. I've lost out on auctions before with this seller who has then emailed me with the chance of a 2nd option on the item i've been bidding on!
HE'S AT IT & I'LL REPORT HIM TO EBAY IN THE MORNING! [:@]

Its folk like this zoomer that give ebay a bad name!

I have come across this knob head before but luckily never bought anything off him. I got outbid on pretty much every flip key I bid on by him. He always seemed to be paying what I thought was a bit over the odds for them i.e. 20 quid plus. Luckily one day I got one for a good price (around the 10 pound mark. It seems he tries to re-sell them on for a profit, it wouldnt surprise me if he was using another account to boost his selling prices and the ones he doesn't get what he wants for em, never sends em out.

Avoid this geezer like the plague!

to be fair to that guy ejaz - I just bought a three button for mine, he had second class postage on it and I asked him to post it first class as I am going on holiday.

I bought it at 11pm on Thursday night and got it this morning. Just been up to Timpsons and paid a fiver to get it cut, reprogrammed it and its now working perfectly.

He even put a seat badge in with it for me to stick on after I got the transponder in, one with red round the "s".

Know other folk have found him crap but I'd give him 10/10, never even charged me extra postage.

Does anyone know what is the model number of standard remote key fob to buy for a 2002 Leon Cupra 180bhp, i.e. the non-flip key.

Basically I have a remote key that doesn't work - I got one off ebay which has the same serial on the side of the key but couldn't code it to my car, the programming wouldn't work and I have no idea why I have tried so many times.

I was re-looking at the key that I do have and noticed that the immob chip is actually lose and not glued down which made me think maybe the previous owner had the key made up and the remote bit doesn't actually match to bottom of the blade (which has the serial that I was trying to seek). This would explain why I can't find a key that works.

Thanks

Re-reading this entire thread I saw that you can code using VAG COM - so thought I'd try that.

And no success, but confused why!

I logged onto the 46-cent. Conv. Went to adaptation and read Channel 1 which returned a value of 1. If I changed it to a '2' it wouldn't let me test or save the number. It also wouldn't let me change it to above a '2'. I also couldn't test or save the number '0'.

I then tried measuring blocks and group 003 came up as mirrors and 007 as n/a.

Anyone understand that enought to realise why this isn't working for me?

Bit worried that there is some setting that is preventing me from adding more keys and even if I buy more keys I won't be able to code them!

Cheers
