True, but I still have the black wheels and one can have too much black, how about a sparkly effect?

I like the blue idea - depending what shade of blue you get that could work very well with both - needs to be something 'electric' not some boring navy blue colour.

Something like this?

Personally I think the orange rims work well one the car. (along with the other little orange touches) Calipers wise, I would poss go for the gulf blue , just as a twist.:D

Not done anything to the car in recent months except procrastinate and hoard bits, but with the Euromeet/Ring/Holiday, its time to get my finger out!

Not long after having the manifold fitted, its developed a leak low down where it meets the rest of the system, I'm think that despite Vibratechnics race spec engine mounts throughout, I suspect engine movement is the cause so I'll be giving trying out a solid front engine mount. Nicely made out of aerospace Aluminium, if a little heavy at 1380 Grams! Now weighs nearer a kilo now after a drilled a few holes in it:)

Also revisited the design of the airbox, seems it ideally needs to have more volume, but with the AirHorns being so close to the top of the airbox it wasn't doing it any favours..

The new air horns are made from ITG universal airhorns and 48mm silicone elbows, took abit of time to get the positioning right and equal length. Sounds more evil than before and drives smoother but has less of kick once it gets into the powerband and if anything a little bit slower:think: Will be having the map looked at once the exhuast is sorted.

Recent picture at the Bromley Pageant show on Sunday, Black wheels are back on as the orange rims don't agree with the arches just yet but plans are a foot to sort that one once the summer is out of way.

Nice car bud, does look a 'bit' plain with the black wheels
Throttle bodies look good, will be good to see if further mapping gets more horses

Time for an update on the past months ongoings

Ring trip prep continued tieing up a few loose ends such as ripping out the headlining, sorting the lack of speado, extending the loom for the lambda where it was too short and having the exhaust blow sorted

Picked up a set of Performance Trim doorcards at a very good price with all the fittings, possibly one of the most akward task I've done on the car especially as I had to unbolt the drivers seat and scrunch my heavy frame arond the cage to do the rear cards - muchos swearing! Also did some weighing, a stock doorcard weighs around 2.6kg compaired to the carbon panel thats 1.2kg. Quite a difference!

Also did a bit of pissing about in the engine bay, aquirred some ally foil tape and fancied a bit of bling, fitted bonnet lifters so save me carrying the bonnet stay in back and changed the camcover to match the rest of the orange goings on. Oil & filter change too, stuck some Motul 300v oil in it which smells rather nice

Also discovering that vibration is the enemy. Certain fixings around the engine have been working loose and upon changing the oil the sandwich take off plate on the filter housing for the oil cooler had worked loose. Will have to keep checking everything periodically. I also reverted the front engine mount back to the VT one, the solid mount I had fitted caused the exhaust to knock under harsh accelleration and cause an unpleasent vibration in the cabin at high revs.

Now with the orange theme on the 5 spoke MO's thanks to Drue1

The SEAT european meet & trip to the ring came & went not without issues...

DSC_1022.jpg

The random inability of the ickle battery to hold a charge straight after a 100odd mile cruise, thankfully I had jump leads and the road trip was decending into somthing scripted out of Top Gear!

DSC_00253.jpg

Made it to the 'Ring:D, quite a milestone in many ways. Completed 1 lap and forgot what a mega piece of tarmac it is and jokingly said it could break down - never a true word spoken in jest it would prove later

Ringcrop.jpg

2nd lap was a different story..... was going fine until Exmuhle bridge where it then suddenly decided to misfire and stutter under WOT......shite.......... not good, backed off and a quick glance to the instruments and the lights were dim and no milage/MFA was being displayed.....alternator had copped it:doh: With the car still going I carried on and it got as far as Schwalbenshwanz (towards end of lap) before it stopped. Bugger. Pretty impressed with the efficiency of the extraction of the the dead car from the circuit, was off the circuit within 15-20 minutes.

Was taken to Autohaus Bongard in Adenau where there was an impressive collection of bent vehicles. Once the small matter circumventing the 185 euro recovery due to the lack of ADAC cover on my part was gotten around, Bongard kindly arranged a nice ADAC yellow truck to take the car back to our villa, really helpful considering my complete lack of German and that I had duped them with sombody elses membership!

TBC............

With car back at the digs and the airbox off, the plastic cover was hanging off normally held on by 3 screws and the positive terminal on the alty was just flapping about

DSC_1201.jpg

The terminal looks to have 'blown' its not been snapped off and surrounding plastic has melted. another weird failure to add to my growing list though at a loss to explain how its happened, the alty was refurbed 12months ago and done little milage...answers on a postcard......

DSC_0089.jpg

With a VW dealer up the road from the villa that was first port of call to procure a new one to be told that they didn't have one in stock (no ****) and a new one would be 790 euro (fook that!) Instead we were reccomend a Bosch service centre in Gerolstein where they had a remanufactured unit on the shelf by pure chance! Still cost 350 odd euros but meant I could carry on with the trip and use my remaining laps on my ring card:)

DSC_00413.jpg

Alternator on and back running again, completed the remaining 3 laps back to back, saw the oil temp hit as high was 122 on the MFA, struck me as a little high:shrug:

The ickle Odyssey battery had given up the ghost, so sourced a 1.4 sized battery to put an end to the jump lead nonsense, whilst on the way to the local factors the PAS belt decided to pop off on its own accord leading to a on the go repair in a supermarket carpark......:censored:

Next task is relocating the battery to the boot instead of where it is now, not going to bother with another ickle battery - just too unreliable.
Going to ditch the airbox and back to a sausage type filter with a taller filter than previously fitted
VR6 front end waiting in the wings most of the parts are ready to go on, and have part fabicated the wider front wings although prefer a set of repo GRP F2 wings if that comes to fruition.
