hardly worth the bother to cost them 50p is it? 99.99% of businesses are proper legit non tax dodgers, so it'll be no big deal to them
Also they might make you wait until the cheque is cleared before taking the car if you've pee'd them off
just a thought, but if you need them again (to fix / repair) then it might not be worth it?
edit: thinking about it, doesn't cash need 2.5% to "clear" into the Bank, so paying by cash would probably annoy them too. since you'd have to take time to go to the bank, so lose some money
Sounds like bad luck to me, as Mork said, its a custom job and they can charge what they want pretty much, although i think any decent person would stick with the original quote + or - £100 or so.
i think what hooch means by the cash thing is that with cash they'd have £2k straight in there pocket, where as with the cheque its got to go in the bank and be legit - only £1650 after VAT. Im just talking from a small business point of view - when you can get the cash you take it and say to the VAT man (well we do!).
