It looks like it could be the wastegate blowing open on the standard actuator, as the forge with the stronger spring seems to be holding boost without high n75 duty at the top end.
I had similar porblems with the standard vf34 actuator after I ported the wastegate to eliminate boost creep. Fitted the forge one and pushed spring pressure a couple of psi and it improved it.
I think bill had the same issue on the PE turbo. The turbine must be backing up pressure at the higher flow. Part of the problem with a compresser heavy turbo.

Will tightening the standard actuator a few turns stop that wilko, or would you reccomend the stronger forge actuator?

yep... had same on my PE1820 yes. fitted forge actuator myself, which now sits on my TD06 hybrid but with different spring.
PE had wastegate blowing open which manifested itself in top end boost being lower when the wastegate was being blown open. (muchos high manifold pressures obviously)
the TD06 hybrid had the opposite.... wastegate wide open (actually seized open!) and 5k rpm it was away and produced >2.2bar boost. That was creep and an undersize flapper hole... Current one is bigger (ported) and controls ok, although I suspect there no margin left in it.

Base actuator pressure on mine is 1bar(14.5psi) currently for ref.
yours are probably 6psi to 9psi actuators on k04 hence the forge one being higher perhaps, depending on which spring is fitted to it.

You will gauge the preload effect if you run N75 off (electrically) and log/watch the max boost it can achieve. that will be your actuator preset.

So if i unplug N75 Bill and then log to see how much pressure i get, it should be in the region of 6-9psi?

It wont blow more than that?

So would Sie's boost controller be what's helping his make more boost higher up then? Either stopping the wastegate blowing as far open, or helping it stay closed?

When Mitchy mentioned before that Jacob had suggested the wastegate I wondered what they did on the 2.7T - assumed the actuator was the same :think: You'd think he'd set the actuator up for you (if it comes with one fitted.

p.s. I hadn't quite figured what boost creep was, now I do - man does that sound scary...

:lol: ;) Easy to monitor though and as its unusual to see your gauge hold and then rise. If that happens ill just back the actuator off:)

It wont blow more than that?
It will blow at your actuator static pressure whatever that is.... 6-9psi typical range.
You can conpare this to someone with a forge one for example.

different & duty cycles between them is a clue, and as wilko said, blown open wastegate on top would be addressed by more actuator preload.

a boost controller wont help it from being blown open. static preload increase will (actuator spring)

Another log im afraid, but its looking a little better:)

Actuator tweaked a further 1.5mm (19.5mm) as opposed to 17mm standard. This log is a 4th gear run......

Fully spooled at 1.8bar at 3160rpm and falling to 1.55bar at 4720rpm so it is boosting beyond MAP capabilities for 1500rpm in this low down range. On my logs before, the range was only about 700rpm above MAP capability, now its double that at about 1600rpm.

It does give a good kick in the back and pulls very well. Unfortunately i cant show the fall between 1.8bar and 1.55 bar due to vagcom not recognising these values.

Then it goes all too familiar again between 5000-6000rpm and im not too sure whats happening at 6480rpm and above, it seems to go very low at 1.05bar, and then bounces back to 1.18bar, and then 1.23bar. (Boost creep anyone:shrug: )

1.25bar or thereabouts is what Sie is achieving on his at this rpm so not too far away at all.

4th gear nitrous run... I didn't think it would effect turbo flow though as its injected just before it goes into inlet mani, and nothing to do with turbo:shrug:

5920rpm in 4th (nos) =2320 =1.32bar
5960rpm in 4th =2170 =1.17bar

It shows you how quick the nitrous makes it though, as there is 14 time markers in my ordinary 4th gear run and only 7 markers above in the same rpm range (3500-6750)

I'm noticing now and again requested values at set rpm's are different:shrug:

On 1 log ive got a requested value of 2280mbar @ 5560rpm and on another log ive got a requested value of 2340mbar @5560rpm.

Very strange as no adjustments to software have been made:shrug:

Does the ECU not request boost depending on load, if so then variations in road incline, surface, even wind resistance could affect the readings?

Keep em logs coming hard and fast I'll never get bored of viewing them. :D
3rd gear pulls are looking impressive, mines pulling hard so yours must be wicked. are you tempted to adjust some more. i think we may benefit from uprated springs in a forge actuator.
