The one thing that I really dislike about my car is the crap seats.

Has anyone ever changed a front set? How easy is it to get the runners off?

I fancy getting some Impreza seats retrimmed and then fitting them - the standard seats don't really hold you...

Are Cupra R seats much different to a TDI Cupra's? I'm presuming the petrol Cupra is pretty much identical to mine??

There's a little wire with a clip, just unplug it!
The trimming guy that did mine didn't have to disable the airbag as they were going back in, he said just don't turn the ignition on and the car won't know they're gone :D

You'd probably lose the side airbags with aftermarket seats, unless you got OEM replacement recaro's that have side airbags.

Mine could do with being a bit bulkier.

Something i really wanna change in my car is the seat ! but always seems to be a lot of concern about what to do.

Maybe a group buy with some opinions from a well known company would be a good idea:think:

Im sure theres a few on the forum who would be up for that?

with regards to the airbag sensing just measure the resistance across the wires underneath the seats and then match this with resistors, ideally built up to handle around 30w's, that should be more than enough!

ive fitted rage race seats into mine... was bloody hellish trying to get subframes for it so ended up making my own from some angle iron and a welder :p the sliders then just bolt straight onto the subframe (due to the customness) and the chair bolts str8 onto the slider :) doddle.

Which wires though? Aren't there more than 2? I never actually took that much notice when I had the seats out TBH.

This could be a load of old tosh, but in my old Impreza with airbag seats, all you had to do was tape a resistor across the two pins on the plug...

So who's up for starting a group buy??:D

Really???Why not??!! So is the 20vt Cupra considered the top model with 180bhp?

As said yuppy, the R was dropped at the last minute, thats why alot of the promo pics have a Cupra R reg plate!

The Cupra TDi and 20vt are the besr of the best in the Ibiza MK4 world (well best out of the factory :p)

you dont want to be fidling around and modifying with airbags sensors and connectors under the seats as this could be life threatning. as for welding your on subfrme for your seats i hope you welds are strong enough to cope with a dramaticle amout of force from a front end accident (worst case senario) if the seat goes with you throu the windscreen! airbags are best left alone imo!

Its a harsh point but true pal.

Theres gonna be pro and cons to most mods, and lots of people upgrade there seat. Just seems like the ibiza 1's r a pain in the arse.

However really wanna get something goin ! i love the new seat's in the new Lcr's, something along those lines would be awesome.
