Maybe you can adjust it back without removing the belt.

Depends on mileage,time,money i guess you could do the job again for peace of mind.

It won’t cost me a penny it’s just time and finding time to have a free ramp at friends garage to put the car on to get the side off the engine stripped down to time it all up take the tension off the belt and adjust it build it all back up get it up to temp plug it in and check if adjusted enough and then fine tune it

Well, got it scanned and this 17931 P1523 error is stuck on!
I've read the forum and it looks like the airbag module under the seat/carpet needs a change.

Getting my downpipe fitted tomorrow and then the car will be ready to be booked in for its stage 2 toon up.
Just hope they get it done by end of play as i need to get home again.

Sat in style dynamics reception watching hells kitchen whilst i wait for my car.
Got here half an hour before they opened to give the car a chance to cool down.
Went for a hour n half walk to kill some time. There are some steep hills in high wycombe!
When i got back they sead the old downpipe was removed without any dramas ( no snapped bolts at the turbo).
And they're making up the new downpipe as i sit here.
All good so far.....

Its not perfect by a long way.
Im going to worry about the bodywork next year.
Just a remap and servicing this year after this is done.

Feels a lot smoother and more induction noise so i assume more exiting.
Couldn't have any fun as it was mostly M25 and M1. Speed cameras every 30yds!

Thats it now. Time to save up for a trip to badger5.

Threw the car about a little bit and the suspension feels a lot looser at the back end before which makes me happy, especially as the tracking is crap and I’ve zero front camber dialled in at the moment. Few little tweaks to make and I think it’ll be there

Offside rear is the only one that needs doing right now. It locks and unlocks fine, but the microswitch has failed so the car doesn't know the door's been opened.

I had the other side done about five years ago and they didn't put the peg and dowel in the bottom of the window, so hilarity ensued.

I'll have to do it one day, but just don't want to have to mess with the glass...

On those with the buggered lock switch, the door doesn't know whether it's shut or open,

I found a brilliant bodge years ago on one of the mk4 golf forums.
This uses a magnetic switch wired to the brown wire on the door light.
The hardest part is getting a switch that opens with a magnet (door closed, light off) and closes with a magnet (door open, light on).
The brown wire activates the light and the INconvenience module, so lights, alarm etc all work.
Brilliant, still not done it yet. but should be much easier than battling the door locks.

Yup, front passenger door was locked shut.

The rears are worse?
How is that possible?

Front: Take everything off, look at lock, smash lock, open door.

Rear: Take everything off (including faffing about with the pin holding the glass in place, take out the rest of the small glass piece that’s a bitch to refit, ease the glass out with much swearing). Then get a dremel with a cutting disc on an extension to the mechanism that you can’t see because it’s buried, take out piece after piece until door opens

Also worth noting that's its incredibly easy to break the rear window regulator slider clips off whilst removing or installing the plastic locking pin.
If you break this then you'll need to take it all apart again to fit a replacement.
I've stripped loads and it's still a gamble as to whether I get them apart without breaking them - fvcking things!
