Resealed mine today, and I'm the same as you guys.
I can hear the under layer squelching like a swamp, it's completely water logged.
Going to have to take the drivers seat out and rip up the carpet, then cut out the under layer to dry it out. Are there any guides out there on how to remove the interior carpet?

NEVER buying VAG again, the amount of **** this LCR has given me. If anyone's interested in a black 53 plate LCR after I've got this sorted, drop me a PM.

If you have resealed the doors and checked the pollen filter,Take your car to the Immigrant car wash,Get them to suck the water out and shampoo the carpets, this way it should dry out slightly...i dont fancy stripping the car out but I think its the only way eventually after resealing the doors

All you've probably done is managed to dry out the very top layer of the underlay, its a sandwich of insulation, rubber, then the nomex type top layer.

You can't suck the water through the rubber layer - you can remove it from the carpet and the thin top layer but that's it. To get rid of all the water stuck in the bottom insulation type layer it has to come out I'm afraid.

Edge on:-

Thin top layer then foam showing, the rubber is encase between the two.

The marble effect you can see in the driver's footwell area is infact the rubber cracking due to use over the years...

Well I don't get no misting up and I don't get no squelching

Must've caught it in time ;) lucky git lol

Seriously though, I'd initially used the carpet vac to suck out a load and it did clear it for a while - it then reappeared over time, and wouldn't clear with the vac again. Cue the interior strippage.....

Yup did CPR on my carperts this morning and I can hear a faint squelch on my underlay although my carpets are not wet yet! Waiting for the stuff to arrive so I can crack on and get the seals done at the weekend. Got a Teatowel in the door to soak up as much water as I can. It rained heavily last night and all of this morning so far! Depressing is an understatement! Fingerscrossed atm its just the front passenger side!

For those of you who are still to do your seals I thought I'd post these pics to show you what you are up against! All doors are now done and both front door seals are completed perished around the speaker area...

You ll find the rest of the seal peels off nice and easy...

But when you get to the speaker it will come off like this...

Also a warning to those who are doing it on their own be careful when taking the panels off - in my haste I forgot window button was connected and as its so brittle it snapped off...

I'm now sealed as sealed can be - hopefully it's just a case now of drying the car underlay out!

See my last post here for how to get the carpet out :)

I'm not claiming it's the only way to do it, just remembering how I got mine out.

Thanks mate, has been useful.

Currently got the front seats out and the rear bases, removed most of the screws on the centre console but can't seem to get it out yet, despite it all being very loose and free. Running out of light is not helping!

On a plus note, since I resealed the door, I haven't had any more water come in! :3rd:

I've just had the first signs of moisture in my car this morning, after sorting the seals in january I'd hoped this wouldn't happen :( oh well, time to get the doors checked again...

Haha no worries, I managed to do both just after posting (typical!)

Now I can't seem to manoeuvre the centre console out. Just can't seem to make it come out because of the shape. I also think the bar of plastic in front of the handbrake is getting in the way of lifting it over the handbrake.

Yeah I've done it now, thanks mate.

I've managed to cut the back piece out and it is completely soaked, as if I have just pulled it out of a bath.

Now I just have to figure out how to get the carpet out from under the pedals and the bits of plastic near the pedals so I can get the front part of the under layer out.

Really think this has killed any kind of love I had left for this car!!

You're almost there mate, keep the faith ;)

Just in the same way as you did the others - iirc you should only have the bit round the bonnet release (and the same bit on the passenger side) and the footrest to take out now?

I think the two side pieces are just clipped in, there are nuts holding the footrest parts down - take the big tube type nut off from under the accelerator pedal (basically the pedal stop).

Like I mention in my long post on the other thread you can either cut the carpet (and then the underlay) up behind the centre console, or pull the rubber seal off the climate - rear floor ducts and manoeuvre it out through the gap.
