Did you say you butyl taped all the doors?? Also have you checked the rear footwells as as you drive the water moves/sloshes from front to back. Did you dry out the underlay after you sealed the doors?? It may be that you fixed the doors but the underlay is still wet and causing humidity?? Have you CPR'd you rear footwell carpet to se if it squelches?

Cheers for reply Marv. It does make sense what your saying. At the moment the drivers rear door is the worst. To be honest it's too much inconvenience ringing the dealer and complaining for the 3rd time ha. So I think on a dry night I will try sealing the door myself. Thanks il keep posted once done the job

I have noticed that my drivers door is getting some water left on the sill, it is coming from the cut out for the door lock mechanisim on the inside edge of the door.

Has anyone had this?

Going to take the door card off again to see if I can solve this when I am taking the seats out on the weekend.

Well I am stunned. Taken the seats out and removed the underlay - I was expecting a little bit of dampness at the most.

The underlay was absolutley saturated! Its currently over the balcony dripping loads of water. Im going to have to put towels in its place and put the car back together as there is no way that this will be dry by Monday for work.

I never had a drop of water on the top of my carpet and the only clues were water sitting on my sills and a slight musty smell.

Anyone who is questioning weather their underlay is damp if they have had door seal issues I would say 100% yes

I definatley think that the only way to sort this is by removing the underlay, I cannot see how a wet vac would have got anywhere near this amount of water out.

Does anybody have the original word document or the photo's they could put up again?

The guides a bit more difficult without the pictures!

Thanks

Go to page 33 and use Dubsteve's guide - the pictures are still ok on that.

I had some orange looking mould that I have never seen before also!

Had to stop due to a rediculous amount of rain (at least I can definatley confirm all is watertight).

Weather permitting im gonna have the driver seat out tomorrow and check the underlay there, cos I am not convinced now that the drivers side is not goin to be soodden too.

Any tips for getting the rank smell out of the underlay?

Going to be doing this this week. First question is that I opened the front passenger door this morning to have a look and a river flowed out the door sill but the inside footwell was dry. that's made me think the water I saw dripping in was only because of the water in the sill over flowing. How do I cure this problem?
Cheers Nick

The water is only sitting on the sill because the door seal arround the carrier plate has gone. The water then will go into the underlay/soundproofing under the carpet.

The carpet on top will stay dry unless there is a silly amount of water but the underlay will still be soaking.

Exactly!!!

I didnt check my drivers side as I didnt have pools on the sils!!

As for the smell - once I put the underlay on the radiator and dried i out completely - no smell - same with the car. I soaked all the excess up with Newspapers - what is it with that Orange Mold!!!

I have the seat out on the drivers side and the trim up, underlay is soaked!

Gonna be a right pig of a job getting it out of the drivers footwell, without removing all of the footwell trim Im gonna have to cut two sides of it. Have resorted to using my other half's tough cuts (the scissors that parmedics use to cut off motorbike leathers etc!!)

Resealed mine today, and I'm the same as you guys.
I can hear the under layer squelching like a swamp, it's completely water logged.
Going to have to take the drivers seat out and rip up the carpet, then cut out the under layer to dry it out. Are there any guides out there on how to remove the interior carpet?

NEVER buying VAG again, the amount of **** this LCR has given me. If anyone's interested in a black 53 plate LCR after I've got this sorted, drop me a PM.

See my last post here for how to get the carpet out :)

I'm not claiming it's the only way to do it, just remembering how I got mine out.
