Water leak into footwell - dodgy seal info and DIY repair guide (Image links dead)

Your gonna charge how much ?

I also had the same problem with 3 of my seals which resulted in a build up of water in the foot wells. To test this I opened the doors and with the windows up sprayed water from a hose at them - after about 30 seconds water started to appear from between the plastic interior and the metal work along with water correctly poring out of the drainage holes near the outer edge of the door.
I contacted my Local Seat dealer (Glenrothes) who informed me it would cost £100 per door to fix, I was advised to get all 4 doors done. Only three failed using the previous test but its clear by those comments they have little faith in the quality of the seal.
I enquired about the recall stated in a previous link and was told this wasn't the case.
I've now carried out my own repairs (took some 3 hours) and will now wait for the rain to start.

Someone previously suggested a dehumidifier but I am looking for something I can leave in the car rather than having to plug in for a few hours.

Has anyone used anything they can recomend?

I thought this dehumifier egg may be decent but the reviews suggest otherwise. It would be the most practicle though

but then considering it is only the crystals that do the job, a cheaper alternative may be some of these, but dont think they would be as practicle and not sure how i would contain some of these.

Maybe I just buy all of them.

mine are still damp free!!

Show off!

What i dont understand is... i put WAY too much on the first two (passenger side) and then streamlined my usage so i didnt have too much wastage... but the ones i used way too much are still f*cking leaking.

Not in the cabin.. yet.

Oh, and i have one of those dehumidifer pots in my car... work wonders :D

I added loads more clear silicon to the door seals at the weekend and after the last 2 nights of rain it hasn't flooded any more so touch wood its sorted now. Those dehumidifier pots are really good in the car too.

Klone - which approach did you take first time ? Silicone over the top of the carrier or did you put the silicone between the carrier and the door ?

I have a little query. On my past two leons iv ended up with water in the rear passenger footwell.

Yesterday I took apart the front and rear door cards and ran a line of silicone along the bottom of the metal, I also notice that a large gromit was hanging out of the rear inner skin and it looked like water had been running down this and obviously into the footwell. Put the gromit back in thinking this will solve the issue. Went to the car this morning to find that the footwell was wet again and in turn the window was frozen on the inside.

It didnt rain last night so dont know whether this was existing water or what??? Any suggestions?
