Anyone found a way to display the gear on the FIS like the speedometer, or it's something that can only be achieved with an APR reflash?

Yes, it is, but I want a big obnoxious number showing on the FIS for no practical reason

Lowest VCDS version required for coding

Hi,

Can anyone pls tell me what the lowest version of VCDS is required to code on 5F.

12.02 I think

12.12 will lack half of the helpers for long coding, but adaptations work fine for the most part.

there were a couple options I couldn't make to work on adaptations on 12.12, but funny enough, on 16.8 some other bits that worked in 12.12 threw an error

Was having a play around with vcds the other day and turned off cornering lights, enabled driving mode display in fis and carbon background to infotainment.

Word of warning on the infotainment, I had to activate bit 2 not bit 3 to get carbon background so it's selecting the equivalent of the third bit essentially.

Also couldn't get convenience indicator blinks to do anything other than 3 despite the coding being accepted for both 4 and 5?

On my facelift as well, all access control 2 mods on central electrics need to skip straight to sub menus as access control 2 doesn't appear?

I've now enabled the driving mode display when changed in the fis but since doing this, when I push the driving mode button, the description of.each mode has gone and I just have a blank box and a blank button under the modes. Any ideas why this could be?

I used the guide in this photo to turn on the flashing ambient light when my indicators flash, I was assuming that indicating right - the right door card would flash but instead both flash? Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong or if I just made the wrong assumptions?

^^^^afraid this is how it works for me as well, you can from memory change the way the left and right turn affect it but it is to both doors.

Yeah I was mucking about with it quite a bit and all I could to was get them to flash out of synch with the indicators but not individual sides

I made the following changes.

5/ Set to Tuerausstiegslicht links
14/ Set to Blinken rechts Hellphase
26/ Set to Blinken rechts aktiv (beide Phasen)

From memory this gave me a different output if turning right or left.

Can anybody recommend me on fully work vcds cable?
I have AliExpress 17.8 cable thar not working for long coding, dsg7 adaptation, just work for read faults.
I noticed on cable on obd2cartool “Vagcom 17.8 HEX CAN USB Interface VCDS 17.8.1 online update version “
Any body have experience with this? They say that it supports updates, is it correct?

My VCDS 11.11 / cable now won't recognise any of my Mk3 modules.

Does anybody have an aftermarket OBD cable that works with a Mk3 / can tell me what it is / pm link me?

What versions of VCDS do you use for your Mk3?

Eager to get going with tweaks.

I did notice that during one of the last updates - there was also an update for the cable itself.

EDIT - there is a beta version 17.12 for people to play with but it is not an official release yet.

Just wondering but did anyone ever find a fix for turning the interior lights off when you have rear DRL activated?

Would ideally like to have rear DRL but keep interior lights off until headlights are on.
