Didn't like how dirty and greasy the OMP wheel was when I bought it. So done some research on how to restore them to their former glory.

How it looked to start with...

IMG_3499_zpsd8efd7f1.jpg

IMG_3500_zpsb80ea1e9.jpg

Looked more like leather haha.

Fill up the sink with hot soapy water and let it soak for about an hour

Then scrubbed it hard with a nail brush. The water was so filthy after that!

IMG_3501_zpsd7b144c3.jpg

IMG_3505_zpse136dbca.jpg

Let it dry naturally over night. Then used these products for the next steps...

IMG_3518_zps88d2c38e.jpg

- Brass Wire Brush
- Eraser Block and Soft Bristle Brush
- Suede Cleaner

Rub the suede with the block (I done a quarter of the wheel at a time) :)

IMG_3512_zpsb8dae69a.jpg

Brush it off with the soft bristle brush then use the brass wire brush for a good while to get the texture/volume of the suede back. Finished result should end up looking like this...

Looks brand new once more! :p

Then for the last thing, spray the cleaner/protector evenly over the wheel.

Gives it a protective coat to prevent oil and stains getting trapped underneath and gives it a slightly darker look overall.

Let it dry for 30mins to fully dry again. And then your done to fit it back to the car! ;)

Fitted the stubby mirrors. Loving the look with the black on silver...

Took a trip to the dealers to order some gear oil as the box is starting to whine.

Got told putting fresh oil in would prolong it some more before it goes bang!

IMG_3507_zpsa7b729b1.jpg

So will do that in the next couple of days...

Don't have a photo of the end result but I like them better... A lot crisper white! :D

But here's an abandoned photo of my car

And a video of when my mate and I went up to Knockhill at the weekend for an open circuit day to watch some FAST cars!

Some banter at the end of the clip too... Most of you wont know what is getting said due to our Scottish accents though haha. :p

Enjoy! :D

Update...

Been busy on the car last week as I was off work, so got wired in.

Fitted a newer, shorter quickshift on the gear linkage side, that my mate has designed and made...

Here's a couple of pics... Stock Vs Modified

IMG_3820_zps9a61f636.jpg

IMG_3824_zps2daa8b38.jpg

Cut out section is a needed mod due to the different angle from the revamped parts

IMG_3827_zps9d667948.jpg

IMG_3831_zps02c2b50c.jpg

IMG_3832_zpsc330e51a.jpg

It made a very noticeable difference to my already short shift... Nice and tight! ;)

If anyone would like some made for they're 20vt give me a shout :)

Weather was lovely so took advantage and painted my front calipers...

IMG_4127_zpsf1a8b0fd.jpg

IMG_4128_zps3d4a115f.jpg

IMG_4129_zps8ac83292.jpg

All done :p

IMG_4139_zpse44f6441.jpg

Then washed it and the girlfriends Lupo, so took a snap of them both looking good! [B)]

IMG_4174_zps02cbbbab.jpg

Purchased some 25mm H&R spacers for the back and new discs and pads...

IMG_4142_zpsdc42933c.jpg

IMG_4212_zps98cef536.jpg

Masked up the discs for some paint before fitting

IMG_4096_zps11b3fe3f.jpg

Disc's and spacers done :)

IMG_4190_zps1f3ab0d3.jpg

Yeah... they were a bit past they're best haha

IMG_4208_zps70180f2f.jpg

Time for the strip down and paint the disc covers and calipers to freshen everything up

IMG_4209_zps4b1fcbbb.jpg

IMG_4218_zps38277c94.jpg

IMG_4215_zpsa69fbbfc.jpg

Old discs were gubbed lol

IMG_4219_zps6c5711a6.jpg

What's the best way to bed new discs and pads in....

Take the car a good blast up to Fort William and along lots of twisty roads!

IMG_4195_zpseb221276.jpg

IMG_4229_zpsbc24a809.jpg

25mm spacers have made a good noticeable difference to the 20mm I had on before. Nice wider track!

Purchased a Porsche oil cap to smarten up the bay a little bit... Subtle change

Started prepping my car for getting my cage properly fitted...

IMG_4107_zps660d0979.jpg

Everything out haha...

IMG_4110_zps0e6d61b2.jpg

IMG_4114_zpscccee65a.jpg

IMG_4116_zpsbee1b6b5.jpg

Race mode engaged!

IMG_4119_zps4d8b2d88.jpg

Got the cage and rear brace back from the powdercoaters... Crackle black! Looks awesome!

IMG_4185_zps0ff38ae0.jpg

Cablie tied in and foam for transport purposes only folks!

Test fitted the cage all bolted up to mark where the plates will go to get welded into place...

IMG_4292_zpse0207750.jpg

Scrapped away the factory sound deadening for the plates so it doesnt all set on fire...

IMG_4295_zpsd7fb5530.jpg

IMG_4296_zps88085602.jpg

That's all for now. Waiting on getting the plates made up at my work before more progress can happen...

Come back later for finished product! :)

The Cupra in its natural habitat :clown:

IMG_4301_zps66a6751f.jpg

Took a blast up to Crail at the weekend for some 1/4mile action as my mate with his 330bhp Corsa was going up for the Vauxhall event.

So I just thought I would 'tag' along in my car haha. And my other mate brought his GoPro to film some banter/action... Here's the 25min he made up...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_fhY7wwXSc#t=422

Got the plates made up at my work and replaced all the original bolts/nuts with stainless ones...

IMG_4352_zpsd622ab53.jpg

So I went down to Trix to set about getting the cage fully fitted :D

Front area...

IMG_4381_zps5df01bc9.jpg

IMG_4385_zpsaf8f192f.jpg

IMG_4386_zps8005f818.jpg

Middle area needed holes drilled bigger through the floor allow the captive nuts to fit in nicely...

IMG_4383_zps800a448e.jpg

IMG_4387_zpsb15a30cc.jpg

IMG_4388_zps84db70cb.jpg

Once they were done, we assembled the cage all back up to see how big we had to make the box section for the rear struts...

Welded up, painted and covered the welds with tigerseal :)

IMG_4403_zps0fef91ca.jpg

Purchased some OMP 2" 4 Point harnesses :p

IMG_4368_zpse671c85c.jpg

So ripped the standard belts out, seats back in and harnesses all bolted up!

IMG_4407_zps6fc663c7.jpg

All ready to sit in and drive!!! :drive1:

IMG_4397_zpsdbfb67dc.jpg

IMG_4399_zps30e110bb.jpg

IMG_4409_zpsc25590ad.jpg

Bloody love it! :funk:

Painted the boot area same colour as the car too see how it will turn out...

IMG_4410_zpsc6ba1691.jpg

Actually turned out decent. As I might spray the whole inside instead of putting the carpet back down, still toying with the idea though! Hmmmm lol

Done a few subtle touches to the engine bay as well. Purchased a satin black billet dipstick and some stainless and black high tensile bolts...

IMG_4406_zps93915f24.jpg

IMG_4411_zpsaa74ac4b.jpg

Starting to really love the car atm... Getting very unpractical as a daily but aw well haha!
