I know and i shouldnt let it get to me, i think i have taken it VERY personally which doesnt help because i get my back up then and want to prove my point, i just wish someone was honest with me and it would be fine, my car is my pride and joy and i spend SO much time and money on it that i cant help but feel upset

I should never had said anything, i just wanted advice on what i should do as in principle as far as im concerned i should not have to pay for this but i know im going to have to which means im out of pocket for things i need this month

I do feel for Alex's predicament, but unless the damage was noted to dealer before she left the the premisses it will be her word against there's. She may be lucky and if she states that she has always been a loyal customer they may well sort the repairs out. If they do insist on a full body repair opposed to a paintless dent removal, not knocking PDR repairs but with a dent that size you will alway see the repair with a paintless repair.

If you have no luck with the dealership post me a message, as i work for a bodyshop and will be able to give a competetive quote for you.

All the best.

Neil.

If you can bear with me as i'm just in the process of changing jobs i will find out from my new employers early nexy week and let you know. But i know the employers i work for at the moment would charge around £255.00 + VAT. One thing i do know is my new employers are cheaper and do "special" deals for cash.

I'll be in touch.

Neil.

I really didnt mean for this to happen, i thought what i was saying was constructive critisism and i never meant it to be taken any different, i really do get on well with these guys but i know the truth and that is what upsets me SO much

Don't get the wrong idea Alex, this isnt a go at you, you've done the right thing and there is nothing up with what you have posted, my advice to you is to take it up with the dealer prinicpal or managing director.

Your still a very active member of these forums, with lots of friends, and there is nothing stopping you sharing who they are with your friends privately, and thats a lot of people who may not be walking through their door in future, they should consider that.

All were adding is that people start asking for a scalp, then they all shout name and shame, and then the whole thing escalates into something that lands us with the legal threats.

But we don't in anyway blame you for making this thread.

are you sure no one witnessed them doing it like a friend across the road or looking at other cars?

justasking someone could have, i'm not suggesting anything. anywoo looks bad cupratgirl esp as you love the bodywork no end,

shame really just keep phoning then and seat uk etc try to resolve it,
even maybe take a friend or dad to garage or yourself and just ask the mechanics to look and if they saw who did it , may surprise you people don't lie to your face unless a really bad character.

could you not involve police?

Sorry to see this Alex. A bad situation but some of the advice you've received so far is sound.

The BAD news

The likely cost of repair (up to £250ish) means that if you decide to take this further legally you can only pursue it in the Small Claims Court. You are perfectly capbable of doing so but CANNOT recover any legal expenses so don't go to a Solicitor. It could never be cost effective.

The GOOD news

The same considerations apply to the dealer in question if it comes to that. IF they will not deal with you constructively when you talk nicely to the Dealerships managing Director (never deal with monkeys: only the organ grinder can change the tune) then you have two courses of action.

1) They should already know you are an active member of SCN, and the local meet scene and you can hint that all the advice you've received SO FAR is that any decent SEAT dealer would be prepared to resolve the situation fairly and sensibly as a purely GOODWILL issue to a loyal customer.

2) That you are fortunate enough to have a source of free legal advice and that for the amount involved you have little choice but to pursue the matter in the Small Claims Court even if it is your word against theirs.
You will be able to produce ample proof that you are extremely proud of your car and careful with it and probably witnesses that it was undamaged on arrival at the garage (otherwise you'd have been asking for aquote to fix the dent) The issue is thus is it more likely the car was damaged whilst in the care of the garage or whilst parked securely on your drive.

More to the point a day off work to attend a hearing should be less costly and less hassle to you than it is for two or three witnesses from the dealership.

MORE GOOD news

Despite the understandable caution of the moderators who obviously don't need the hassle which may be possible (though ill-advised from the dealers point of view); you have NOT libelled anyone YET. You have not named them and even if you had you would have a good chance of establishing that your allegation was true and justified. Again in the real world the dealership could not or would not afford the advice/hassle to pursue you personally. Sorry to say but your not worth it (purely from the financial point of view I hasten to add).

Just stay calm and try to be un-emotional about it. We all know you love your car but this is money, business and law so keep a clear head.

If they haven't agreed to let you meet the MD by say Wednesday let us know and you can seek further help as to the next step.

Keep smiling this can be sorted out. :)

I just want to say thank you for everyone for being so understanding and helpful given the circumstances, i know it probably seems like something small to most peeps but to me its a VERY big deal, not just because of the fact it means my plans for the car are ruined this month but also because i feel like i have been made to look like im a liar, that is partly why i want to pursue this even more

I will have to wait until Wednesday to speak to the Manager and see what he comes up with but i have a VERY strong feeling he is going to agree with the others

I had a similar problem with a dealer recently.

I noticed lots of scratches that were new, but i tackled them then and there about it when it was still outside the garage.

They did put it right after a lot of arguing and finger pointing. But in the process damaged something else so...... in the end its anoying but sometimes u just have to walk away.

I can't believe how nice you are!!! You bought them donuts!?!

Sorry to hear this Alex, but you should remember they are monkeys, it doesnt matter if you asked them to change a wiperblade, they'd probably crack the windscreen doing so.

On a serious note, as you say the way they parked it up shows they were hiding something, find out who was working that day, and go and speak to the workshop manager and demand to know what has happened, threaten legal action.

It's so out of order especially cause your always cleaning your car to make it look top notch!!!

I doubt SEAT will cough up unfortunately, if you dont notice it on site they wont do anything about it, unless you can prove otherwise.

Usually now they have to check the cars before taking it in for a service to make sure it wasnt damaged previously, and then its your responsibility to check it afterwards to make sure it hasnt been damaged.

I genuinely feel sorry for you as it does seem you are genuine about what happened.

I have spoken to SEAT UK today and explained to them everything! They said i should go down today to see the garage even though i cannot speak to the Manager until Wednesday, he said to call him back once i had been to see them

I went down this morning and they were VERY friendly, had a joke about and the guy i had spoken to on Saturday actually said 'Hhmm i see what you mean' i said 'I really dont want to have to do any of this because i know you all and i want to continue coming here and get my next car from you but its the principal of it, this is without a doubt a pressure dent and its the same side the work was done on, i also saw the way it was parked before i went on Friday' I also said 'We were ALL looking at the car on Friday and it was not there then' I said 'I have spoken to SEAT UK and they will back me up if this is not sorted!' One of them said 'Well like i said before if it had been one of us we would say so but you need to speak to the Manager really on Wednesday as he is not in until then'

He could see the type of dent it was by looking at it and did not argue with me at all really but still made sure he said that they would have said if they had done it, the other two guys then came out to have a look and were like 'Oh thats not good' and the one i had spoken to on Sunday said he would 'Sort it out' and asked me to go back at 4.00pm today as the guy that had looked at my rust on Friday from the bodyshop is going to be there then

I said 'You sure?' and he said 'Yeah we will sort it out, be back here for 4.00pm'

I suppose i will just have to see what they say when i go back
