What do you mean paying customer. Somebody somewhere has to pick up the tab, a bodyshop that isn't to blame are not going to do the repairs for nothing.

Neil.
i was meaning that they did the work for alex as its supposidly got damaged while at the dealer where the body shop is, and they said they would fix it even though not taking resonsibility. i was just saying that i hope they didnt do it differently due to the circumstances thats all. not slatting body shops as i love what they do and would love to have the skills that you have and other body shop workers also have!

Alex, you should have let them clean the car after repairs, it's very hard for a repairer to do a good quality check when a car is covered in dirt and dust, bodyshops where ever you go has a dusty inviroment it's the nature of the business.

The bodyshop where i work we clean cars before they go in for repair so we don't miss any imperfections on the panel being repaired, they are then blown off frequently while in the workshop with air lines so cars stay clean through out repairs. Then when cars are completed they go off to be clean with a jet wash this cuts down the need to use sponges that could have grit in them. After washing the cars they are then polished and waxed on all new painted panels and adjacent panels, before going for final quality checks.

What i dont like hearing on these forums are people always slating repairers, because it gives us all a bad name. If bodyshops are all useless like some poeple seem to be saying, you dont have to use us, you can always keep the damage on your cars. Or as there seem to be so many "experts" out there you could all go to halfords get some filler and a couple of spray cans a do the work yourselves, i would love to see the outcome.

Neil.

i dont think anyone is saying ALL body shops are rubbish... far from it! ;)

BUT there are A LOT of cowboys out there! :(

i have been to sooo many body shops over the years and its good when u can find a couple that you can actually trust to do a 100% job!

like ppl have said, alex probably should have let them washed her car (i totally understand why she didnt!) and thus they could have seen their mistakes, but this is no guarantee that they would have rectified them!

tbh i would put money on them trying to get away with it! (especially as it was a write off job... they weren’t getting paid!)

the body shop i currently use is good, both at body repairs and VFM... the first job they did for me wen i looked at the car i said to them i wasnt happy with the orange peel and that i wanted it flatter. i felt awkward asking but fcuk it its my pride and joy!

sure enough, about 2 hours later they had sorted it all out so it was perfect!

the next time i had the same job done i could see they had already flattened it, and they even said they did it cos "they knew wat a i was like"!

anyways, just trying to say not all body shops are cowboys! ;) :)

I understand what your saying but if they knew that this is something that happens frequently then they should have said 'We HAVE to clean it' and i would have backed down but they didnt, they just said 'Whatever you want as its your car'

I was not slating them and it was not a case that i could choose if i can use them or not as i had to go there because of how the dent appeared! The bodyshop my car went to is the one my SEAT dealer uses so i had to go there

Its sorted now and the guy apologised! I think you have taken what i said personally to be honest, i was not being critical towards you or your company! I think i have just had a bad experience and wanted to update peeps with what was happening as they had all been there for me when i first put the thread up! Also im only like any human and i needed somewhere and someone to speak to that has good advice and knowledge on this kind of situation

Im sorry if i offended you or anyone
