Possibly, mate :p

I also like the idea of being part of a motor group respected across the world with an absolutely enormous fan-base, wealth of owners clubs, dedicated magazines and proven on and off track performance.

Honda, with all its successes and bullet-proof mile-crunching engines cannot compete, in my eyes, with Audi, VW, SEAT, Porsche and SKoda in terms of parts, performance mods, after-market options and popularity.

Each to their own but for me, moving from the giant that is Ford, I'm more than happy to sit with VAG for the time being.

EDIT: Incidentally, if we had this argument on a CTR OC forum, or on any Jap performance tuners' forum, we'd see a lot more fire spitting on behalf of the CTR.

Money no obect, I'd love to take a Jap performance machine.. but it'd have to be a turbo, or twin-turbo.. so no CTR for me. Supra RZ anyone?

In my opinion, he wasn't saying that at all.

£ for £, you could turn your standard LCR into a beast.. the same cash spent on the CTR wouldn't yield anywhere near the same gains and results.

No one is suggesting you compare SEAT to Honda. I'm suggesting we see SEAT as a whole.. a cheaper, "sportier" alternative to VW for people that don't want a Skoda vRS or can't afford the S3 option :D The VAG group share parts... if Honda were owned and operated, built and marketed by Nissan or Toyota.. perhaps you could fit Skyline engines to CTRs and convert them to AWD monsters.

 just to hear you say honda cant compete with skoda makes me laugh

You just love to misunderstand, don't you.

I'm wondering.. do you read these posts standing on your head with one eye closed?

So BCM are you saying its difficult to get parts for a CTR?
I mean were still talking about a multi national company here which is larger than SEAT,HONDA.

Want a simple answer - NO.

Try understanding a sentence rather than just read it, as said the way it is meant is spend 3k on a CTR then spend 3K on a 20vt and see who wins.

Not at all thats exactly what you said.i am not saying that i dont love my LCR all of seats machines are quality, but i just wanted to defend honda because it sounds like all the opnions put forward so far except for a few have been very biased to wot we own.

Which is why I said this same thread on a Jap performance site or a CTR OC would be entirely different.

And you are misunderstanding. I compared, LOOSELY, VAG to Honda. You picked Skoda out of all it's brand names, where you could equally of picked Audi or Porsche? You misunderstood.

End of. No more pointless replies from me. This thread is utterly pointless now and I apologise for my contributions to that.

If you give me the results of every LCR that's ever run it, I'll tell you. Until then, stop confusing fact and opinion.

If 'I've driven both and say X is quicker' is a fact... then it's a fact that a remapped TDi is quicker than a CTR, as that's what the original post says.
agreed.

I was always of the opinion that an LCR could be tuned to around 300bhp for a small some of money but after that it becomes extremely costly (uprated internals required etc)...I guess this is why there aren't many LCRs pushing over 350bhp???

I'm pretty positive CTR's could be tuned to 350bhp+ for a resonable sum too?

Why have you done both? There is a supercharger option for the civic which takes it to something stupid over 300 bhp.

Try listening to someones elses point of view rather than just what you want to say,all of this is opnion anyway.

Im sure that u might be able to get more then maybe out of a LCR than a CTR but i thought this was a forum where you could put forward your point of view without having someone jumped down your throat.

No..not from a small amount of money...To get 300BHP you would have to change Zorst, Remapped, induction kit, intercooler and a hybrid turbo...so it would cost you quite a bit of money...

CTR's can be tuned for a 'reasonable' sum, you're right. But any SC kit is going to be in the thousands of pounds territory, I'd suggest you're looking at £1500 as a starting point not including labour to get the CTR to 300bhp.

The LCR can be taken to 330-350bhp with similar torque levels for that money, just look at what JBS offer.

Until the CTR can produce 260+bhp for less than £600 worth of modifications, it will never compete with the LCR for it's ability to be tuned for 'reasonable' money.

again rob its not a small amount of money....we are talking a good £2k or more to get an LCR or CTR to those levels. CTR i think may cost more....Small amount of money to £300-400 quid for a remap.

EDIT: It is also things like tyres, suspension, diff, that need to get done to make that power usuable also....
