yeah....lol....:D

tbh, it's been quite a good read, It's quite refreshing to see people from different forums not slagging off each others cars.....some very knowledgeable peeps on here.....

Yes, it's not perfectly accurate, but it's a reasonable measure.

You're also taking a leap in assuming one car for one driver. Perhaps another way of looking at it is that Mansell was just a better driving than the stig. Not that he's better at driving a liana than the stig...

Hey Naive. Thanks for posting :)

Cool little vids. I would like to mention, though I'm sure others will too! But excluding standing starts, an LCR will be faster than an S3 due to the transmission loss. Which if I understand correctly, even with the part time haldex system is quite significant. An addtional 10-15%...??

good point...I kind of guessed that his 4wd system let him down on the sharp turn round the cone as well....but hey...a win's a win... :D

you do get some idiots saying their car is really fast blah blah blah

I have always like the look of the CTR's, especially red ones with tinted windows, really brings out the shape of the car IMO

i certainly respect them on the road, not an easy car to pass:D

Hello boys.....I own a CTR and your LC vs CTR thread has attracted a bit of interest on the CTR forums.... :D

we're all a bit friendly really and have nothing bad to say about one car or another, I really like the LCR personally, I think they are a really nice looking car with bags of tuning potential...and have always been a fan of diesel torquey-ness...of which Seat seem to have with their tdi lumps....

Very interesting to hear all your opinions on the comparison between the two cars...LCR vs CTR....I think most have hit the nail on the head, standing start would be fairly equal imo, but the LCR would pull out a bit of a lead if it's been mapped, obviously, but from rolling the LCR would have quite an advantage.

I actually raced an Audi S3 recently on an airfield, which uses the same engine as yours iirc(could be wrong tho, has been known once before), he had a bigger intercooler, induction kit and exhaust, he annihilated me at the start but couldn't pull out any more of a lead than about 3 car lengths, but killed him in the twisty bit and the sprint back to the start/finish line....heres a vid..or two...

this is my second run against the audi, but my amateur cameraman passenger missed the first part of it...

oh, my ctr is a totally standard 52 plate with 68k on the clock....

I am pretty sure tho that under normal cicumstances he would blitz me, i.e. rolling start, uneven road surface etc......in short, a standard ctr going at full chat is a force to be reckoned with, on the open road everyday it is a desired taste to be fair, but 25-30mpg is quite welcome as well....

oh and a standard ctr is nowhere near 1550kgs like someone said in this thread.....more like 1200kgs..... :D

thanks for listening, love your work.....:D
Well first thing I will say is welcome to SeatCupra.net

Second is good post. You are correct that CTR's love their rev's. I had a little play with one last week. I was in prime rev's and gear. Floored it and went like 2-3 car lengths in front but soon as he started climbing his revs and I was changing to 4th I knew he would gain quite fast. Now my car is currently not been remapped. I am confident it would be an even race if I was remapped and pushing 200bhp although I am pretty sure once you go over a ton the CTR will push strongly to 145mph where as my derv will start to slow at 130mph.

you're probably right....I have had mine up to 150mph...but only once, don't do much motorway driving to be fair...(else I might have bought an lcr instead...lol..)..but when do we relly need that sort of speed..??..I love it because it is fairly quick and has brilliant handling, and cheap on fuel.....thats it...never really been into "google queening" to see which car is better or faster....in the real world theres far too many variables to be able to compare 2 cars in the same-ish power range....

Which CTR forum has this been mentioned on? :)

sorry yes. forgot to throw that one in, very heavily modified Ibiza - K03s, Forge FMIC, race cat, 3" DP, dynatwist, jabba remap etc etc

sorry perhaps a bit harsh as we were comparing apples and a lawn mower together, nothing much in common he he!!

but yes having had the identical mods to you (when my car first started out), STG1 Revo, dynatwist etc, i could well imagine the CTR having the edge

so fair play mate:D

;) ...your car certainly is modded, sounds a beast... got any pics?

Hi newannaive!

Welcome to SCN :)

Very intuitive and explanatory post there; made for a good read.

I'm glad to see there is healthy debate and speculation going on here about our two respective car choices. Whether I agree with points made or not is irrelevant, but I'd like to say it's always good to hear the views of "the enemy", in this case :D Even though, in one aspect, we're on the same side.

That side being the NON-money no ojbect, affordably performance cars. Each with a degree of pracicalit and multiple-uses. Anyone with a 10 figure bank balance could walk down to Ferrari and snap up a car capable of 200MPH.. but what does that prove? Nowt! Only that they've more money than sense :p

I'd love a CTR, in retrospect and after seeing these kinda threads, I realise how hotly rated these VTEC powerhouses are. But 5-doors a big boot, plus the turbo won the day for me.

Either way, welcome along mate and I hope the topic is getting as much attention on the CTR forums as it is here ;)

Welcome newannaive! Didnt think this thread would have went berserk so quickly but its very interesting anyway!
My bro's CTR is an 02 model, would the later face-lifted ones be any quicker?

On the topic of colour, his is Red (pretty identical to my Emocion Red) and its defiantely the colour I would want.

Another thing, im tempted to sell mine to free up some cash and get an 02 model as well. Yes you have to rev it hard to go fast but 80% of the time i would be in traffic and wouldnt need to. Its also a much nicer cabin to be sitting in IMO, feels very sporty and the seats are gorgeous. Im not sure if they were standard- they were like black suede with cloth in middle?

apart from cosmetic changes the steering rack is supposed to be different but externally it's exactly the same so don't know about that, the flywheel is lighter so that may explain the 0.2s difference to 60.....but hey, 0.2s isn't even a bad gear change' worth is it..??.. :D

the red one snoop's brother has is Milano Red and is a lovely colour, unfortunately I have the ultra high maintenance nighthawk black...lol...too much like hard work really.

quick pic..

inidentally the best looking lcr I have seen was a grey-ish one...sprry don't know the name of it, but it's sort of a anthracite but not quite as dark if you know what i mean.. :D

yes mate, they were standard black alcantra seats...the premier models have the same seats but with red inserts in the middle....and you could have had leather as an option, have seen some pics of those and they look gorgeous.
