Yes, but we are talking about a Tested "Race" not a commute challenge.
You still need to hammer a Leon to go fast, maybe it doesnt sound as if your hurting it as much but the honda is built for that and the leon isnt, power delivery is totally dif but so are the cars and thats why not everyone has one or the other, its up to yourself what you pick,
I prefer the more usable power of the leon and the fact that as you say,
you can pull out and overtake no problem without having to drop it 2 cogs to get into vtec,
I'm just giving the facts that i have.

that is very true about turbo power V VTEC with regards to over taking

thats why i didnt buy a CTR as i prefered the effortless overtaking of the turbo :D

NO CHANCE!!!
Sorry Guys but there's no way your beating a CTR in a LC (assuming its standard or even if it has a remap) or a Derv with a map.
Sorry but unless the driver of the CTR gets a yellow bus to school then you will not beat them! 2 of my mates have them and I can only JUST beat him to the 90 mark after that they both pull bout car and a half and then we sit together till bout 150mph.
Sorry to bust your bubble but it wont happen - Race someone with a CTR that can drive! - Then you'll see!

Im not trying to say my remapped FR TDI is faster than a CTR but just giving my honest findings from yesterday.....We were both trying very hard and I know for a fact he is a very good driver. if we kept the race going a bit longer he would have passed me.
Im not comparing the remapped derv to an LCR only a CTR. Theres no doubt they are fast but even if a 'better driver' in the CTR I cant see it being much different up to 120mph. Im sure a better driver than me could have gone faster too though....

Respect due for the post there Snoop!
As I've just been tring to say, they are fast cars, make no mistake pulling out a corner or jumping on the gas from 100 a Leon will sometime have the edge but they are very close but from a standing start over a mile the CTR does beat me, i know you werent comparing your car to any other leon, i was just comparing mine to a CTR and thinkin houw can a LC or FR TDi be the same as mine thats all!
Fair enough tho, must mean i need a remap now if i cant beat them like this!

Al G - THANK YOU!
Finally someone who confirm what I'm saying!
Al G I am the exact same my mates 172(with de-cat and full system) sits with me no too badly,
The Leon is about 200kg heavier than a CTR and bout 300kg heavier than a Clio!
BHP per Metric Tone the Civic and the Clio are about 165(ish)
A 210 LCR is ~154, bit of a diff!
AND - Both Clio and Type R are N/A cars!
N/A cars usually are a bit quicker than a turbo car with similar power.

Only telling it how it is mate ;)

I've got some vids of a remapped LCR racing a CTR on the Autobahn. The LCR doesn’t pull away as much as you would expect!

In gear LCRs are very quick. They are a heavy car and IMO they were never designed to be a 1/4 mile racer (unlike the CTR). I drive up and down the M56 everyday and my LCR suits me down to the ground as driving it is so effortless!

I would expect an LC to be an even match for an ST170. CTRs, LCRs, Tegs, 182s, and 172s should all beat an LC quite convincingly IMO.

I was shocked when I raced my best mates 172. 0-100 they are extremely quick and all the way up to 100 I definitely couldn’t pull away! Really handle well too!

LCR "feels" a lot faster than a CTR just due to the torque shove and the delivery. CTR is very progressive, great cars to drive on a deserted B Road but I agree probably a bit tiresome on the daily commute.

I nearly bought one but the LCR sold itself with its effortless pace. :)

My 2p...

LCR 225 is quicker than a CTR in straight line pace. 0-60 is very similar but as RobM said previously in another thread and I agree with him 100% that is the biggest con in the motor industry as many human factors come into it.

CTR is 160KG lighter but I dont think that is enough of a difference to beat an LCR. We have proved through video's that the LCR is faster too.

I dont think anyone here is argueing CTR arnt great drivers cars and Snoop has given us a good review comparision so its all good stuff.

ok, people a CTR is faster than a LCR 0-100.
I'm gonna do some videos tonight and i'll Youtube them tomorrow!
I should be able to get vids of CTR x2, Astra GSI, M3 and a 172 ( All the usual suspect ) oh and a Celica GT4 ( import ).
This will be over a straight mile, max speed over that about 134mph in the Leon - Need time to brake at the end!

Global CTR Fanclub round here.

Incidentally, BCM.. what use is the LCR turbo if a non-turbz CTR can annihilate it to 100mph? Is that turbo serving any purpose at all?

Why dont we all tear our turbos off and enjoy lag-free driving.

Because the engine aint exactly up to much without it!
A N/A car with the same power will prob beat a Turbo car with it!
Just when it comes to tuning a turbo'd car is a good bit better for it!

Seen videos of 210 vs 225. The extra 15 is actually worth something. It's not just a marketing scam.

Someone offeed you a free 15BHP upgrade, you'd take it.. wouldn't you? :S

Its not all about how much power per ton BCM.

You got driver skill, power curves, how the car puts the power down on the road i.e. traction...

Without a Turbo the LCR would be dog slow!

I wish the CTR, teg and 172 weren't as quick as my LCR up to a ton but unfortunately they are. I bought an LCR because its a good looking, powerful, motorway eater. I'm under no illusion that there are other cars out there for the same money that will be as quick/quicker than my LCR.

Exactly! I'm just glad theres someone else out there who can uderstand where i'm coming from.
I'm the same as you Al, but they are as quick, still wouldnt change the car for a Shitvic tho!

As i said i'll get some vids up of CTR v LCR, not gospel but it will give you a rough comparison, and yes mine is a 210 and thats 15bhp diff from a 225 and anyone thats got a 225 and raced a 210 or vice versa will tell you it isnt a diff that will show that much!

Well my LCR is 225 and I still cant beat one lol!

Ben CTR is a good person to ask about this as he has owned both!

I'm sure I can remember him saying that standard V Standard a CTR is slightly quicker than a LCR. Remapped however and the tables are turned (only just).

Only just? Seriously this is becoming just opinion now rather than fact. A remapped LCR will beat a standard CTR by a good margin.
