Well the V6 engine has 250 standard not sure on torque remember 280 being a number but don't quote me. It is all about that 'pull' mate, honestly drive one! You will want one its so addictive noise and just the drive.

You will see 10/20bhp from a remap and another 5/10 combining a catback/decat BUT the noise is from the tuned VW exhaust so militeks sound more mettalic raspy M3 like over the perfection of the standard noise.

Most R32 owners do the following - Remap, Haldex controller for the 4wd and then just sit back and enjoy.

Spec wise you want to look for - Full leather (the buckets are nice BUT the bolsters wear quickly), MFSW, Double Din sat nav and the winter/convinience pack on an 05/55/06/56 reg.

Dont worry about BHP, the torque is were it's at on these

I drove a MK4 years ago before my 1st LCR and LOVED that noise. I heard about mapping on LCR's though, and that made my mind up lol.

I'd love to drive one tbh! They sound lovely. How much for a good one now? I'd want newer than 56 if I'm honest bud, how much more is the tax? I don't care? Haha..

What's MFSW? Thanks for the info though bud, appreciate it!! How much for the Haldex controller? Is it easy to use? Sorry for the questions............

No worries on questions mate I had to find them all out when I was looking lol.

Mk5 is a totally different drive to the mk4 more refined and then we know how good the mk5 overall is.

MFSW is the multi function steering wheel, I had the spec I told you to look for on mine was really nice to have it all.

Tax is £450 ish a year after a 56, and you get the revised plastics inside and the alloys changed on the 57's upwards from the ones in my pics to a flat spoke design called omnymats.

I paid £14500 2 years ago for 38k on an 07 with full spec bar the bucket seats. You will pay 12k for a good one, get on R32 owners club for load of info and cars for sale, good forum for anything you need. I usually mooch back now and again and they still happily chat.

The haldex controller is dear for what it does and can vary in price but expect £500 ish fitted Just let's you control the bias for rear and front wheel distribution as standard it's 60/40 rear.

If I can say anything it would be that you would be buying it for it's 'complete' package. Yes it's not massively tunable, yes it's heavy BUT it's about how good the whole package is and THAT noise.

Not been on here in a while mate sorry, but thanks alot for the info on the R32! I know who to come to if I can buy one.

For now I won't be selling the LCR and getting an R32, an I highly doubt next year either. Aswell as trying to save for property, I've also done some thinking lately about my car and the way I see it, I just couldn't sell it until I know how good it can possibly be with the mods I originally planned to go with stage 2 oomph..

If circumstances change and I can go for something else, I'll defo check back here because I have a big soft spot for R32's!

Cheers buddy.

Beading Love!

As I said above to tyrer, I've not been on here for a while guys, and tbh my car has been neglected a bit with alot of other stuff going on elsewhere in my life, but enough of that..

So today was the day I got up eager to get my love back for the car. It was in a filthy shocking state after Brands Hatch last weekend where I went to watch the DTM, but parked on south bank meaning my car got covered in mud - which was still on there a week later. This is just not me so I had enough and gave it the treatment today.

It was nearly 2 months ago my car was detailed and it hadn't been cleaned since.
1st thing was to rinse it and see how well it was still beading with surface water. The results were very impressive! Gotta love Crystal Rock wax..

She cleaned up really well..

And the 'Mirror Milltek' after some laying down underneath the car and grafting with Autosol metal polish. Needs another going over but it was a state!

Also pumped the tyres up, vagcom scanned the car (revealed my knock sensor code of course but I keep clearing it!) reset the TB - AGAIN, OCD? Possibly.. checked under the bay for any split hoses and just checked everything over.

And gave it one massive hoover and wipe down inside! So I think my love is back for the car.. It comes and goes!

So I've been saving a bit harder this month, and fingers crossed aswell as getting the knock sensor 2 fixed, I may also be getting my FULL Superpro bushing kit done at AmD in October. I'm very excited about this as the car feels very crashy and needs it so so badly. Also anything else underneath that isn't right or needs replacing, will get replaced.

Then brake overhaul and when the money is up, it'll be a full clutch replacement with gearbox oil change and check over.

I'm afraid wheel refurb and other cosmetics I wanted to get done this year, look firmly like the start of next season now. I'd rather get the car back to it's booming best with the underpinnings to match..

Also may be switching back to panel filter soon from my current setup.

A long way to go yet then it would seem...

The car was looking really good today mate ;)

Cheers mate! :)

Need to get back out there and finish off the windows one night this week but with the weather we've been having might not be worth it, lol.

Haha, I feel happy about the car again mate just want to stick to it now and get it finished. It is alot of work still, but the main ingredients are there... i.e the power lol.

Cheers mate. My friend who detailed it only uses the best products he is really fanatical about it all. You think things in Halfords like Megs cost alot and then you see the products he uses which you can't even get there, lol.

Cars looking great mate, its good to see you've got the love back. Whats the price for the full superpro bushing kit?

Cheers Rich! I'm as happy as you are that it's back, I've neglected it and just been down about the whole project if I'm honest. Just want to crack on, save hard and get her finished now. I've done too much to sell it anytime soon and it feels like a half done project. So I can't stop now, right? Lol.

AmD fit the whole kit for around £400. Main cost is labour time to change them all.. See 3 down here:
http://www.amdessex.com/special.offers.cfm

It really is just a matter of time till I get this done. It's important the car isn't a load of wobbly rubbish underneath. So this will definitely shore the car up. And the month after that - if I can delay the clutch a bit longer, I will get the rear ARB and the front ARB to go with it..

Looking forward to the months ahead for sure. Plus the car will be garaged most of the winter :)

Well the love is defo back, I've just ordered 2 new LED sidelights from Ultraled's to replace my eBay one's.

One of the eBay one's died over a month ago and they aren't the best quality. So I'm finally putting some decent one's in there this week aslong as they arrive when they're meant to :)

Car is looking awesome as usual Tom ;)

Funny how enthusiasm for projects dies and comes back isn't it? One minute you neglect it then the next you can't wait to do more to it. I think you have to be fairly impulsive to do all this :D

I've decided to keep the alfa, booking it in for a major service this week (£700 odd!) and then going to fit my spoiler and make the exhaust even louder lol. All I needed to change my mind was a blast down an A road in the sun and the windows down.

Get it finished up it'll be a cracker when it's done!

Your car will be amazing with the poly bushes, new front and rear arb. Mine's fantastic, holds the road so well now. I've got the 23mm R32 and the Neuspeed 25mm set on stiffest. I recommend my setup but there is plenty of options out there.
Looking forward to seeing where you go with this now and no you cant leave it half finished, its good to see one of the best kept LCR's on here will be staying for a while longer:D

Good to see your still sticking around the forum by the way!

It really is all about how other things are going in your life at the time and then when things are going good again you just get an urge to sort it out and get the motivation back for it. Recently joined my gym again, might have something to do with the positive approach now? I dunno!

The Alfa looks smart matey! That major service is about £620 more than I pay for mine through a friend ;) Sorry to say that!!

Got any videos of the exhaust mate? Bet she sounds lovely!

Yeah I intend to finish it matey. Got to be done now. If I can get the bushes booked in the end of this month it'll be well on the way to being complete. Once polybushes are in, it's pretty much sorted for it's life (for aslong as I have her)... Could be many years yet if I'm impressed with the change in the car coming up.

Cheers mate! I try to update the thread as much as possible to reflect it's life really! Sad but that's what these threads are for and for it to have some sort of profile that one day someone can check out who may want to buy the car. I had an offer on it earlier in the year via this forum, so it can't be a half bad thread hey, lol..

I find giving the car is a real good way of loving a car again. Dirty = neglected look! And it's not about that anymore. She's getting the treatment now, otherwise I may aswell sell onto someone who will finish it. Which I just couldn't bare to watch happen!

Cheers bud! I hope it is amazing with the new bushes and ARBs. Brakes will be after that then clutch, then 4 new tyres most likely to really test out the handling.

I'll be going the same setup mate. R32 FARB and Neuspeed 25mm RARB. This has always been my plan since I sat down and looked at the stage 2 target and the handling mods to match.

Thanks for the kind words though :D means alot mate. I see so many nice other LCR's on here so it's nice to get these sort of comments! I must return one back though and say how much your car has come along in a short space of time. Just looking at the spec list is pretty impressive! She's a minter alright! It's always nice to look back at the car standard etc when you bought it and then look at pics/current spec of how it is now. You then realise just what you've put in and spent but when you put that right foot down you know it's all worth it!

I have a good feeling about these bushes/ARBs and the result which should confirm my intention to keep it for years to come yet.

Good to see the love is back mate. I know the feeling your going through, I too am trying to save for property and the car gets pushed back but then a little blast changes all that and brings back the smiles :)

Cheers bud. It was there all along I just needed to maybe clean it? Lol. It is hard trying to save for other things but I might take a break from it and finish the car, like literally plow money into it to get it complete. Then in theory she's sorted for years and years to come as I don't drive her everyday things like brakes and tyres just won't wear out as quick. Bushes will never need doing again either. Loads of things actually, just thought the Milltek has a lifetime warranty so it should be pretty wired by the time I can call it a finished project!

Yours looks superb now by the way mate. The stance is just spot on! Looks evil as hell! Haha. :D

Yes I agree it's all about motivation for life in general, like when I'm feeling lazy I spend most of my weekend at the pub but when I'm feeling a bit more pro active I'll do some car/camper stuff too!

The service is expensive because the belts are being done too :( 72k mile one. It's a 6 hour job to do the cambelt on this car lol. Crazy price really but I'm determined to make something of this one. Ordered a new HU today and plenty more on the list for the next year. The pic in my sig is right after I machine polished it, and I love it  lol

This is my car - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BzmCcoWIz8 video was recorded the day I fitted it, the exhaust is sooted up now and louder but you get the idea :)

Have you gone off the idea of an S3/R32 for now then?

It's the simple things we do which revives the love factor in the cars again. They can be a right pain in the back side at times but then you do something and remember why you go through it all!! Stick at it mate, that's my plan also. Can't see myself selling for a while like yourself so it's worth getting whatever you want done as you know you will be keeping it so doesn't feel like so much of a waste of money/time etc.

Your right in the sense that your doing all the bits which won't need going over in the future and makes the car more solid for the future. That's what I am doing, trying to find any areas which I feel I might as well get done now before it goes t1ts up really.

Thanks for the comment mate, first the first time I think the stance is spot on now so I am happy along with the rest of the car at the moment, although I keep getting some crazy ideas to do to it but then keep thinking house first El house first.............:censored: lol

Don't be stupid, keep the car and get it finished!

The difference between mine and yours is that I had done all I wanted to do to it so I felt that I could come to the end of the road with it if I wanted. I could have kept it and enjoyed it the way it was but work commitments made that difficult so it was the right thing to do to sell it on to someone who would persevere with 'the project' however, if I had 'X' planned for it then she'd still be with me until I could finish. My employer is also starting to sent me out to client meetings more often, some not always accessible by train so a car is needed and a loud hot hatch wasn't the image they wanted. I miss my car like crazy, I've pined for it for the last two days since it has been gone and if there was any way I could have feasibly hung onto her then I would have. A part of me is always going to regret selling her but this was a head over heart matter but that's just where my life has gone. Based on your situation though, you should hang onto her and enjoy it for as long as possible/while you can :), I'm sad that I can't.

Everyone needs a Stage 2 LCR in their life :D.

I'll still be coming to the AMD Day though but I'll be running something non-VAG :).
