Age is nothing your car is still a baby! the engines hardly even worn in;)

Is it definately a sensor and not just another issue with the AMD map? or have they already checked it out. Once it sorted dont spend any money on it, just drive and enjoy it. then you can decide what to do.

I sometimes think someone else would be better off with her tbh. Hate it just sitting there.

You'll feel exactly the same with the S3.

60k she's just about worn in, lol.

Defo the sensor gone, Knock sensor, but looks like 1 and now 2, could be costly and the brakes need doing next. Oh great............ Just wonder when the outlay will stop to get the car to a good standard that's all. Is a bit depressing!

Valid point on the S3 I guess mate!

Meh I'll get these sensors replaced next month and go from there.

I second Sam's comment Tom, Chin up pal you have a great motor there and we all spend out money we hate to on stupid things when the mods seem much more cash worthy..... but just for the record I want an S4 too!!

Haha, very true. They do feel quicker when you haven't used them for so long. Lately I've been going out alot (pubs/clubs) and the car hasn't seen any attention really! Just the odd blast here and there.

As said above, I'll get the sensors sorted at AmD and a health check done as she feels rough at the moment I can't explain it. Maybe it's all to do with the knock sensors, I hope so. But I drove my mates LCR the other week and it felt so much more responsive and that was unmapped and much less modified.

Thanks mate. I've thrown money around on other stuff lately and maybe lost touch with it that way. I hate her being 'ill' with fault codes anyway. So I'll defo get those sorted as I'm OCD about having them.

I literally have 4 or 5 events out before payday which I'm committed too so the sensors are getting done earliest September.

Think I'll actually book a day off for the 1st week of September or week after actually while I'm at work tomorrow. Get her down AmD for opening and get her sorted out! Think there's a boost leak somewhere too but they can check that out too with their equipment.

The car does feel a bit slower at the moment and is making some slightly different induction noises. I'm thinking boost leak somewhere..

The dreaded 'is it time for a change' feeling.

Before you do you need to think about what you will want out of the car, if it's a newer model then you will be paying for it and still doing the train. If it's older then you will be working on it as a project.

Also an S3 will be too similar to the LCR, if your going to change you need to step away from 1.8/2.0T cars as I think yours is a great example when it's running right!!

I was on the R32OC before and a lad has gone MK5 R32 - S3 8p - Evo and now back to a MK4 R32... Sometimes the grass can be worse ;)

I do the following when I feel like this - go on Pistonheads, px I put LCR and see what people want to swap for. Then I look at the motor and realise, right now it's the only thing worth my time.

You have a great motor man, great example and someone will get an awesome motor when you sell it

Lol I know, it's only weekdays when AmD will do most of the work and when I have the patience to get things done!

Weekends get too busy down there too.

Very good points you make mate. Guess, really the way I look at it as a whole picture - it's not worth changing right now. Unless I could get a Nissan GTR I won't be gaining much!!

I have been on Pistonheads alot recently, but S3's are twice the money really to what mine is worth and have been offered this year for her. I will just have to be patient and get her finished :p

Thanks for the comment bud, when she's on song she goes like an absolute train and makes some lovely noises! Lol. I just need her to run sweet all the time when I'm to use her.

I'm also thinking that I work all week and want to take her out at the weekend but at the moment can't because of these faults. Worried about doing anymore damage tbh.

Fingers crossed she'll be all good once I've had the sensors replaced and the car checked over for boost leaks and any other faults. I will literally get AmD to go over it with a combe! I'm not happy with it at the moment, but I'm sure it'll come good.

Cheers for the replies guys. I hope this keeps me from looking at S3's for a while anyway!! Lol!

Tom,

I often thought that and recently been discussing a purchase of a porsche with Rodger and my mrs but the same problem with still remain. I would probably drive the new car less for fear of damage. This is why I try and drive my car more often even if its shopping trips that way she gets used. Then occassional blast at weekends.

Pointless upgrade going from a tuned lcr to an S3...

Sounds like it's working out well for you matey! Campervan sounds ace :)

Coupe 20V T's are good cars for the cash bud!

I really am losing heart with my car lately :(

Don't do anything on impulse mate you've spent a lot of cash on the car and it's probably just needing some mid life surgery, or baby surgery lol. If you do sell up then go for something totally different, a bigger displacement v6 or something. Def not an s3, it will feel too similar and will probably make you miss your modded LCR.

Aye, I love the fiat coupes, probably an acquired taste but if I am patient and get hold of a good 'un then I know I can get it up to 300+ bhp for relatively little cash. I get bored quickly, on a mission to find the fastest car for under 3k lol.

Good luck with fixing her up :) I would also say good luck with the sale/finding a new one but I don't think you're going to get rid just yet ;)

S3 is a poor mans LCR hahaha ;)

Haha, erm... sort of :confused::blink:

S3 is alot of dollar but a very solid car with all the toys. I'm still thinking of doing it next year, I know it'll be similar, but I want to move on with the times a bit if it's financially possible next year.

Which Porsche?

The move to an S3 wouldn't just be about performance though, I'm looking at the interior, overall build and more toys. I love my LCR to bits, but I do feel an urge to move with the times if I can. 57 plate or above S3, with low miles would be the target.

I can totally understand why people would say it's a kind of pointless move in terms of performance and costs, but I'm still likely to go with my instincts.

Lol I love the car surgery, it always costs me so much money haha.

Similar wouldn't mean a bad thing though matey if I go for the S3. I like the size of the LCR and S3, and the drive would be fairly similar in that respect. It's just as I said above, I fancy moving on with the times a bit if possible although my LCR still has decent kit for it's age.

I want leather seats, bluetooth and a BOSE stereo... Did I also mention I'd REVO the S3

Haha, I'm not selling yet mate. Still some important maintenance work to do before the year is out, the aim is full superpro bush kit, new front and rear discs/pads(brake overhaul including fluid), and a full service before winter comes. I'd rather service it twice a year, as I have a friend who does it at a good price. Will be using better oil this time though.. :D

Enjoy the Fiat Coupe if you get one soon bud. I've seen quite a few tuned one's around and they do sound mint! Go pretty well too [B)]

Car feels normal again... Bloody LCR's.

I went out last night and had to drive to my mates to leave my car there before we headed out to this party..

So I haven't driven the car for nearly a week and the last time I did it felt a bit rubbish due to the knock sensors. So me being me I was expecting to crawl round there with a rough feeling LCR.. However... This wasn't the case at all, she felt fine, responsive and smooth to drive again.

What the..

I will scan the car this week as I didn't have time today, but I just can't get my head around how up and down these cars can be with niggly little issues ruining the whole experience and when they're not there, these are seriously fun cars.

Really whistled along last night and I had a smile on my face again!

Still look at S3's though, haha.

Payday isn't far off, so I'll look at getting these knock sensors replaced soon anyway and also having some other checks done to check she's all good.

Aye, the S3 interiors are sweet and much more classy than the LCR although that's not to say the LCR is poor inside. It was a hard choice for me at first, but with my budget I knew I couldn't get as good S3 as I wanted. I do like them though I must admit ;) they handle like they're on rails too.

Been offered a good one, goes like stink (much quicker than my LCR was) and in great nick. Just need to be patient waiting for the gtv to sell, will take a month or so I reckon.

Yeah and I'm looking at the newer S3 mate, and the interiors on those are luuuuuuurvly lol. [B)] The BOSE stereo's sound great too. This girl I know, her bloke has one and I went in it about a month ago as he gave us all a lift to a restaurant, oh my I was loving the interior and the comfort, haha. Kinda talking myself into one more by the day oh dear my poor wallet!

On the Coupe... nice one bud. Details? Got a link of it? Is it faster than your LCR was at it's stage 1 mapped tune? I'd be interested to see this Coupe! Keep me updated!

I guessed it'll be the newer one for you ;) they are very nice I agree. I do love audi interiors. My old boss had one, so comfortable aren't they. Good choice if you do get one, I'll be very jealous. New job going well I take it :p

It's modded, as far as I know it's big turbo and chipped, there's more but I haven't got full spec yet. I know it's around 300 horse. It's a mate of a mate who owns it. He told my mate a price he would sell it for (falls well into my budget with cash left for mods ;) ) and I need to give him a text this week to get the full spec. Only downside is it's boring old silver :( no platinum grey :( lol.

Mate new shape S3 is a different animal, thought you were going 1st shape hence my comments lol!

Newer model S3 gives you the toys you want and are coming down in price... Myself I can't recommend the MK5 R32 higher enough - get a 56 or below to keep the tax bracket low and you will pick one up for very very good money. If it's about over all feeling I'd chose R32 over the S3, I did after driving both back to back 2 years ago. The R32 just had 'something' over the S3 in terms of how I felt driving it

Lol! No defo not the older S3! I've done 1.8 T to death now with 2 LCR's haha. So moving to 2.0 TFSi is acceptable :p

Hmm, that is some good inspiration. That's a lovely car mate. I remember reading your RR and you said it was stolen :( Bet you we're absolutely gutted :( She's gorgeous.

I do love the sound of an R32. What bhp/torque are they and what can you get without going too far up the modding trail? The next one I won't be spending no where near as much cash on as money will be going on property instead!

Good shout though thanks! The S3 can't have this too easy now can it!
