Navigation + or Plus is the Seat name for Mib2 high, you have a standard unit. Don't think it was every fitted to an Arona. I'd be careful with the green menu. If the unit has a navigation button on it and it's an import from Europe as a second hand car I'd stick to what I said than mess with the firmware to remove Mapcare you may mess up the firmware. There have been no conversations on this thread of people using the standard toolbox to remove Mapcare, they use the workaround to update the maps. You find the Seat, VW and Skoda map cards on eBay. Any of those cards is recognised by the unit (CID check) then you deploy those methods.

Hmmm to be fair I'm not sure whether the navi icon not showing is because your navigation is not activated e.g. a card in it for the first time. Mib2 standard firmware experts jump in. I know once you introduce a card into the vehicles prepped for navigation the card work first time if it's never had a navigation card in them. The Israeli guy. If its an import vehicle second hand more than certain it will be prepped, used with a card and probably thrown away before it was shipped. That's the Palestine one. Here Mapcare stops a different map release working but you can use the workaround and it works. Workaround being that overall.nds file or one from previous historic releases.

The car tethers to the map card release entered the first time and I believe that's where the FeCs come from. The work around fools the unit to think it's on the same release when it's not.

I'd reduce your random variables and not update to 516 unless you have found that the standard mib2 toolbox works on that.

As long as you keep the power running during the update (engine running). As said we have had any conversation about the mib2 standard toolbox here although about the mib2 high one. You are sure it's Seat 515 not 515 of one of the other brands.

Hi,

I'm hoping for some help :)

I have 2016 Leon FR, and the maps and software are outdated.

Can someone point me in the direction of how to update the maps and software if required?

Any advantage in updating the software from 0245?

I've attached photos.

Cheers

As far as the maps are concerned I gave a recent reply here with links:

In their case they didn't have the card, in your case you have it, so read from there, follow the links.

Start reading from the first link and then follow on:

Serial release 2010 is the latest release. You'll see the link. Be aware of what I said about not deleting the card. To use that card you will have to use one of the zoned areas since all of Europe doesn't fit on them. With a new card 32gb if you need all of Europe you use the "workaround" as detailed.

As far as firmware is concerned stay on the 2* releases, see above for discussion. You can damage the unit if you migrate onto another train your self. 3* etc is another train, train being the leading number. That discussion above on this thread.

Others can comment on the firmware update. As far as the maps are concerned roads are always being built. Toll roads and bridges changed. The mib2 standard which you have uses TomTom cartography. Mib2high Here Maps, ditto mib3. If you follow the links in the resource I give you the websites where you can report and add map alterations in these two systems. They do take these on-board. Whilst people like to think Google is definitive it isn't always the case. I've seen housing estates left off Google Maps for years.

hello, the SW won't move far 245, I don't know which is the latest version, but you personally can do a max update from 200 - 299 with SD or USB, you can't do more than that, you have to contact a programmer who will overwrite the entire memory of the multimedia system in a complicated way for me and upload there are also other versions like 3xx, 4xx, 5xx, I think the last one was 512, you can't do it yourself, you need professional help, try some bazaars or something about cars where these services are offered by programmers
the maps on this forum are everything, where to download the current maps, as well as the whole guide, I'll give it to you in a nutshell, find the wolkswagen website, search for map updates, find your car and your multimedia system, download the parts of the country, which maps you need from the old and functional ones, download OVERALL. NDS and then overwrite it on the downloads of new maps on SD.

The last one is 516 but inadvisable to jump trains on the standard unit more experts here than me. Goes on a work bench usb / Ethernet adaptor, crack the password etc. So many wrinkles. The boards retrofitter sponsor offers a service. Also a service to put right what people mess up. Best not to mess it up by trying to move off the train or find someone professional to do it. The USB also needs changjng in some instances to get car play to work... again more experts than me on this one. People see the tiled screen and want it, Seat / VW / Skoda didn't provide an update route to that for dealers just the within train ones found on the mibsolution web site.... although there are other things there that aren't the original but custom ones. @MIB-Wiki is the head librarian for that site and I'm sure knows the collection.

On maps we don't go to VW etc because they always post up late. The server links are used which get identified well ahead of the web link appearing. Skoda operate six months behind on mib2 standard so we don't use those. Seat have been late in the past but have RoW files that VW hasn't in some instances. Hence why consolidate links are used which I fave. I tend for follow the Briskoda ones these days passing stuff I locate elsewhere. Assorted individuals probe the servers within a file name range seeking out the release. Like library books coming in of old that need the front sticker put on and a cover. The ones you strained your neck on out the back 😉.

Thanks for the replies, if I wanted to update from 0245 to 0253 which files should I be downloading from mibsolution? There are lots and I don't want to grab the wrong one.

It must have an SE in it for Seat, not SK for Skoda and finish with a T for production if not it's modified for something or other. The 253 isn't jumping out at me at the minute.

There is this

Possible but don't blame me, not sure why it has _MU0253 on the end of it but does show as MST2_EU_SE_ZR_P0253T .... we need the head librarian .... it's probably fine. MU version is shown as 0253 may be just the way these are filed away.

I think you are right, I've just checked the current version and it shows as MST2_EU_SE_ZR_P0245T, just got to build up the courage now to give it a go :)

You can tell whether the software has been fiddled with by opening up the metainfo2.txt file with the notepad, don't re-save it just quit after. If you look at the end of the file it should terminate with

[Signature]
Then 8 signature lines.

That's the SLA1 validation signature. There is a technique where authors use a POI import then ram their code behind the final signature which avoids the validation check. If you see code after the signature it means it's not original, they have produced their own and slipping it in without the check.

Don't forget to put the car on a charger if you do update and keep the engine running.

Forgot to give an update on the radio logos. I tried OTA download of logos, didn't work. I followed the link provided, but it was for the UK (I'm in Sweden.). I found something which in my view is better if you can't get the logos automatically: https://www.phonostar.de/vw/en/download You enter your "device part number" and then you can download a package of logos custom to your country. You unpack the downloaded zip to a SD card and update the system. I put the files in my original SEAT SD card and it worked flawlessly, although I read somewhere that was impossible. (Detailed instructions are in a pdf on the site.) Then I used the long press to have the right logos for stations. Thanks for the tip on the long press, Tell! It would have taken a lot of time to find that.

Probably where they said it was impossible would be they were getting confused with mib3 where it doesn't have a logo import option. Will have a look at that site.

I don't think it was on Phonostar's site. Could be pretty much anywhere Google brought me. :) It might have been in connection with sales of USB sticks/SD cards (or affiliate links?). In that case, it would merely be an effort to get a sale. Seems to be standard for a lot of companies to claim only their expensive memory units can be used with their equipment, like when a TV provider here tried to make a family member of mine buy an expensive extra 4 GB USB stick for the TV box to be able to use the online function. They had also plugged the secondary USB port. I removed the plug and connected a USB HDD. Worked very well.

This might not be the right thread to ask. Maybe you could point me to the right one if so. I've been bugged by two things when connecting to Android Auto.
1. I always have to do the connection twice when starting the car without driving before. The first time it doesn't connect and I have to press the connect button once more. Then it works. Starting when I have driven before it connects on the first try.
2. I always have to confirm that I want to allow information to be sent from the phone to the infotainment system.
Can these two be removed somehow? Ideally, I just want to plug the phone, start the car and drive.
