Yeh well I think they will try anythin to avoid paying out! Not sure if I can be bothered with the hassle at this point in time, but could be worth a try!

Do you know what thing it is they use they checks if the paint has been resprayed?

There's no F in Quality..
I'd say that a re-spray will give a hard finish depending on the laquer used by the body shop. Even if they used a SEAT base paint, if they used a 'better' laquer then the paint would be 'harder'.

But I can't understand why the guy would suggest that the rear window has been removed, when only the passenger door has had a respray....

Surely the door would have been removed from the car for the respray...... ;)

This reminds me, SEAT were going to get back to me 'next week' about mine. That was 6 weeks ago. I think I'll remind them in the morning. I have to say that I love their efficency and customer care.

The measuring equipment used is to check the paint thickness ultrasonically,(Elcometer in Manchester are the only UK manufacturer of the probes)nothing to do with paint hardness as the paints used are 2 pack and cured in an oven.SEAT just do not apply the paint thick enough on some occasions.

The rust on my tailgate has been looked at and they said they would not cover it under 'Corrosion Warranty' as it has been resprayed before
