It is valid..

The car is still in warranty, it's not your fault they are slow!

Go in this weekend and see someone, explain the warranty will expire soon which is why you want it sorted asap!

I was getting confused i think

I was thinking it was the Warranty i got when i bought the car that ran out soon (which is does) but i think your saying that this is covered by a Warranty that is there when the car is first registered which lasts for 6 years (is that right?) so if that is the case then i still have 1 year of that Warranty left?

Look in your service and maintenance record booklet.

At the front it explains the warranty and things. It explains that the warranty lasts for 6 years.

My car was registered in October 2000 which means i have until october to use the warranty :)

Well i just visited my local dealer and was dealt with well, the guy explained it was something he had seen before and was caused by water getting under the rear window seal. He explained they would remove rear window and re-seal, treat the area and fully re-spray.

Just what i wanted - warranty report has been sent off to be authorised then its all systems go!!!! Fair play SEAT.

Cheers

I called SEAT about mine the other day and they said that it isnt them that actually sorts it as such so i need to call them to book it in to then meet the people who then take a picture and authorise it as its not covered on Warranty if its caused by a chip but is if its caused by the rubber seal!

I cant really go unless its a Saturday at the moment so will have to wait until i can get a day in the week off work

Yeah that sounds like the same process i went through - a guy from the dealer came out to look at the car and filled out a form which they sent away for authorisation - now its back all systems go!!!!

To be fair yours should be covered the guy i spoke to said it was a common problem - how you would get a chip up there i don't know!!!!!!

Good luck

I took mine in had all the pics done etc, now I have to get a guy from Seat to come out and take a look as the guy I bought the car off decided to try to touch it up! Def not caused by a chip tho but I can see this comin out of my own pocket!

Hhmm yeah from what i know they have to prove that it is rust and not caused from a chip but i dont really see how you can get a chip on that part of the boot very easily and its not really coincidence that the part of the boot the rust is on, is where everyone else has rust problems, do you know what i mean?

After the inspector came out to assess the car he said because the passenger door had been resprayed (due to "pikey" damage) that he thought the rear window has probly been out and so they will not cover it under warranty wot a load of crap!

No apparently they had never had an issue like this with an Ibiza b4!! They use some instrument which is like a magnet which they put on the paintwork to tell if its been resprayed. Not quite sure how it works but apparently the usual rating should be around 120 and my passenger door was 330 so they know it was resprayed

Hhmm well i think printing this thread out and showing them may be worth it as i think there is a few peeps that have had this problem and they must be aware that it happens as they booked you in, in the first place?
