It was one of the coldest days this year when they rolled my car.

I put it down to just a mistake, a fluke, I honestly don't think the data can be regarded as real. I mean the thing read 156.7bhp at 3900rpm, it's almost a Cupra, for cryin' out loud.

I just hope it doesn't mean that the remap data isn't correct either.

well im honestly surprised that pd130 are getting so much hp. my bog standard fr is in for a remap by p-torque end of the month sometime and ill be interested to see what it shows up on the pre-map dyno run.

im also hoping todo a dyno run before & after fitting the pd160 intake & pipercross filter to get some data posted (pre remap)

I'm going to go to angel tuning to get an extra 20bhp too. Stuff Revo

You'd be suprised how little difference 20bhp makes when you are talking figures of 160bhp+. Although on paper it sounds a lot, in the real world you have so many other factors at play like:

  • State of wear of your car
  • Aerodynamics
  • How much crap you have in the boot
  • Condition of your tyres / suspension / mounts
  • Heat disappation
  • Your driving style

That 20bhp can vanish into the ether. Also every rolling road gives different figures, so can you actually validate he is making another 20bhp over anyone else. You can get 2 cars mapped by the same tuner on the same rolling road which give VERY different figures (as no 2 cars are the same) - its not necessarily down to the map, but a myriad of other factors (how it is maintained etc..). I had 2 LCR's back to back (both from new), and they felt quite different cars in stock mode due to part revisions etc..

Choose your tuning house based on quality of references, history of customer service, proximity (in case you do need to return), and because they look like they will be in business tomorrow. Revo do massive amounts of on road and dyno testing, and this shows in the quality of their files. I've had maps from 3 other companies and they fail to deliver in the same way (obviously in my opinion, but I am now on my 3rd Revo mapped car too). I wouldn't give my car (pretty expensive asset) to anyone who I believed hadn't conducted suitable R&D and had the appropriate back up support.

As a consumer its your choice all the way, but don't just make the decision based on a pretty arbitrary number.

Thanks coxw, I have already got my Revo Remap at JKM. I think I can answer some of these

# State of wear of your car - average
# Aerodynamics
# How much crap you have in the boot - NONE and quite proud of myself
# Condition of your tyres / suspension / mounts - .....Tyres need looking at
# Heat disappation
# Your driving style - Naff and too aggressive into corners

My car is just under a year old. Very good condition. Tyres needing changed tomorrow:(. Nothing in boot, glove box etc apart frm a few cd's. The guy done it as a deal for me as i knew one of his good friends fo £320. But he has got a great reputation in the west coast, and for (alfa's generally) he goes down south to tune the vehicles or any maintenance needing done, but one of his most popular motors after the alfas r tuning of the VAG pd130's. THe map is advertised at 180 but because most VAG motors are underated(probs for insurance etc) it can go a bit higher, nd i made a mistake saying "136"bhp standard it was 146 sorry:(.

Mine is pushing 186.1bhp and 286.9ft/lb of torque. That's from a remap/exhaust/FMIC. Your torque is quite a bit higher than mine. Not for long..... :bleh:

Aw rite m8, r u planning getting more mods to add torque? what kinda cars r in the same league as ur fr at the min?

Erm, similar cars are 106 GTi's. That sorta league. Doesn't sound impressive. And mine's a Sport - not an FR.

And I'm going hybrid turbo a week today - 220bhp and 360ft/lb of torque - here i come! :D

Aw brilliant m8, well good luck with that, do u have to upgrade your clutch for that i take it? Im sure it will be a beast, is the sport and fr not almost the same? fr just the face lift model? uprated suspension? i think thats it? Ive only really had to we blasts with m8s 1 who has a 54 plate cupra ibiza and i pulled from him quite a bit. And then another guy who has a 57 plate Audi A3 3.2 quattro, i had a go with him standard and he smoked me, but now im right up his ass and in mid range pull away i get away from him a wee bit i dont know how these A3's r rated but thats a genuine lol. He was pretty surprised after rippin me last time:)

The FR's have shorter gear ratio's to pull through the gears quicker. Mine is doing just over 2000rpm at 80 whereas yours will be doing 2500rpm I believe.

And yeh FR is pretty much cosmetically different. They got rid of the 130PD Sport when they facelifted the Ibiza. So I've got the "proper" Sport. ;)

And yeh my clutch is uprated already. ;) Scooby's and Celica GT4's I should be able to eat soon.

A3 is 247 bhp, you might have the edge mid range but with that little turbo over about 90 that Audi will really start to hop on. I bet from a standing start it will beat you as well.

My Cupra is quick mid range but my M-Roadster with its mere 235 lbft will absolutely leave it for dead. As would a 3.2 A3 i'd imagine

Mine was 143bhp and 243 lb/ft standard so I had a healthy increase from a map :) My torque went through the roof lol

ZM Roadster is 286bhp or 320bhp straight six?

Going to add my firgures 169.8bhp( i say 170 :D) 293.1lbft that was with a remap and cat back.

It's too much for my clutch and my car feels slow now - perhaps because my clutch keep slipping.

but your figures sounds great - although you WILL have problems with your clutch in a few 1000 miles :p

i had mine re-mapped at P-Torque in June 2007.
at the time i'd fitted a Green panel filter & PD160 intake.

Had it Rolling Roaded in Jan '08.......... 186 bhp & 297 ft/lbs

i've since fitted a turbo back Milltek, with de-cat, Forge FMIC, replaced all the intercooler pipework and removed the EGR system

went to P-Torque's Rolling Road Day, Jan '09........... 199.4 bhp & 331 ft/lbs [B)]

the roads have only really started being dry in he last 3 weeks around here so i've only just been able to get the power down :funk:, although i did experience my 1st lot of clutch slip last night on the way home from work :(, so i now need a new clutch

I had my 130TDi Sport remapped at 47k to 163bhp/299lb/ft and had to have the clutch/flywheel replaced around 500 miles later :(

I imagine with the OPs figures then the clutch is going to be shredded pretty quickly
