if you sand too much off you will loose the white brembo logo, but if you take care and sand gently you should be fine. If you do remove them by accident you can get new brembo logos on fleabay to put on under the laquer.

Gotta say what a fantastic thread. Just completed my first caliper yesterday and the difference is amazing, almost forgot how good they look when new!! i got the lacquer from my local motor factors, its label as hycotes 'engine laquer' designed for high temps. also i used a hairdryer to warm up surface of caliper as it helps the lacquer to stick and reduces any runs from overspray. just gotta do the other side next week!! :D

have any of you guys used red t-cut?.....i used this for my rears...they are still very red, with no pink at all. when they get dirty just use a wet paint brush and they are shiny and looking like new...

just another idea for peeps

i doubt it is the paint flaking; most likely just the laquer - a rub down and reapplication of laquer should sort them :)

i found some abrasive polish on the rears turned the pink back to red - 3m finesse and then wheel waxed the calipers being careful not to get any products on the pads or discs.

For the rears you can use various abrasive polishes to get the red back. in fact I some of the brembo's I seen don't actually need a refurb, polish would do the same thing.

Don't worry too much about the rubbing back guys, just make sure you get rid of the road dirt with a good degreaser, dry the caliper properly and remove all the flaky bits. The edge where it's lifting will all but dissapear with your first coat of lacquer provided you have 95% of the flaky bits removed.

Make sure you get several coats on (drying in between coats) to protect the caliper

Think I'll be needing to do this again when the weather gets a bit better; accidently blasted most of the lacquer off with the pressure washer yesterday... Woops!

What lacquer are you lot using? I got some from Halfords and after about a month it had turned bergundy, a bit like the rubbish off the road had got embedded in it.

just a can of regular lacquer is fine to use right? not anything special like high heat resistant or anything?

Just done mine today following this guide they look really good, just a little tip that may help others , to remove the old lacquer I used a air blower gun on my compressor which took all the loose and lifted alot more of the lacquer. Don't know if it will work for others but i just thought I would pass it on as its saved me ages.
