Guys

There have been struggles and strains but over all I have loved my Leon.
However now we are both older the time might have come when I need to pass her on to someone who can bring her back to full glory :)

She has 105490 on the clock, I got her when she had 60000. In that time she's been looked after by JKM, had a new short engine! Clutch all the regular stuff.
MOT is due in April this year.
She's running good but there is still that knock noise coming from the front when turning left, been told its the rack possibly.
Slight coolant leak, so like if you do 200 miles you can see its dropped down the mark slightly.
Clear coat on roof has been sun lifted :( got all the kit to fix just not had the health to do it.

Does she have an enthusiasts value or should I accept a trade in offer, I'm really lost here. August 2005 reg.

Gonna be a horrible day when i say goodbye but there it is.

Thanks
Mike

Sorry to hear this mate, a sad day for sure. Sounds like it has been a bit problematic for you & unfortunately maintenance can take its toll, but you have given it a good life & looked after it. You should get a reasonable price & so best of luck with the sale. A tough decision to make though 😣

Aww cheers mate, yo seem to fully understand me! She's not that bad, drives great, loads of zip still, its just that I'm 60 soon and have discovered that I'm not up to the little jobs I used to do anymore. She has a really small coolant leak, I can smell it but its not easy for me. She may need a steering rack soon (depends on MOT) I don't want to let go, love her looks etc. But needs must now. Thanks for understanding and good wishes.
Just need to find her a new owner that will look after her :)

Sorry to hear that you're selling mate, but gotta do what you gotta do. I'm only 44, but i'm already starting to send her to the garage rather than doing jobs i would have done myself on the drive years ago (suspension and clutches etc) I imagine being 60 rules out more stuff too.

My clear coat is failing on the corner of the boot lid, annoys the hell out of me and I may have to attempt a repair over the summer months. Bodywork is really not my thing though, way too much prep and patience needed for my temperment haha

I know exactly how you feel mate. I've let 2 previous mk1's go & I'm still sad about it, but each had reasons for sale & it was the right thing to do.
My black has terrible clear coat oxidation on roof & bonnet. I've tried restoring it with products & buffer, but sadly it hasn't improved it all, it needs a respray! If you have any knowledge of treatments, I'd be glad of it though.
Regarding age, I agree with both of you. I'm 45 & I enjoy looking after my car, but it pisses me off when there is always something that needs doing. It can be fine one day, then the next you notice a certain something isn't doing what it should, stopped working or beginning to deteriorate. It is a labour of love for sure & I don't use it as my daily any more, mainly due to the wear & tear on it. It's easier to walk away from it when it wants to test me now 😂

Best of luck with the new car. Check in with us if you want reminders why you get rid of a MK1 🤣🤣

Hi guys, thanks so much for the lovely supportive comments. Got the new car on a multi car policy from today and it was not half what I was expecting lol
Anyway, I'll be putting Lucky through her MOT and my mechanic mate will do what work is needed within reason. Come the summer I'm going to take the roof, most of it (CC) flaked off last year using a plastic scraper. I've got fine grade papers ready, colour match paint and new CC to go on. All spray cans lol so I need s good windless day and no rain. Got an cover I can work under. Yeah i know it won't fix the leaks or stop the wear, but she'll be back to looking good :) New car is a nissan qashqai 2020 1.3 dig-t (140ps) acenta premium, 4 year old with just 20K on the clock. Got it 3K£ off as well from main dealer. How the hell does a 1.3 have more BHP than my 1.8 SE Leon??? Can't fault it, so comfy, but too many bells and whistles for me LOL. If you see anyone looking for a TLC Mk1 Leon let me know. I won't ask much for the right person. Cheers all

Hi Mty,
I'm hijacking the thread here (sorry, totally not relevant).
I don't know if you can help me Mty. I've tried posting on Ibiza forum, but they're doughnuts over there 😂
I've got 1.2 TDI ecomotive Ibiza 2012. It's fugly as sin, like MK2 Leon, so I want to swap out front grille (which has fake vents, so sealed).
Can I replace with a vented grille do you think? I don't know diesels at all so unlike my Cupra where air is good, I don't have a clue whether this would affect the engine in anyway.
Apologies again for putting this in completely the wrong place folks.
Bb 👍

Should be fine mate, can't see any problems with that.

Cheers mate, that's good to know! I've had a honeycomb grille lined up in my basket, but didn't want to take the risk without advice.
Appreciate it 👍

Age Is just a number.... it's how young you feel. Or the woman your feeling... well it's one of them. I am 45. Sat in the workshop playing with this thing.
