Turns out I was making a meal out of nothing. Just stick the screw in the hole and turn until it bites the plastic clip. I also tried out putting the oem a pillar back on with only 2 clips instead of 4 before I butchered any and it was fine. Get the gauges in tomorrow hopefully :)

I did that at first but it kept popping out, just drill a small hole through one of the yellow clips, holds it perfect.

That's exactly what I was about to do until it took hold. If it comes off I'll do it then.

Does anyone actually have a clear definition of what a 'New stepper motor' version?

I would guess that the new stepper motor has a different type of mechanism inside that is better at going from low or negative psi to high psi quickly, so is more accurate than the old motor.... But I don't see why they would explain how it works tbh, especially not with all the cheap knockoff brands everywhere

Alright fellas, I'm going to fit the gauges soon. I've read that I want to go in through he pollen filter housing and through the glove box, but where did you feed them after that? Also where are you powering yours from? I read I can pop off the front of the headlight switch and power them there?

Thanks

You defiantly don't want to do that, unless your left hand drive?

You want to remove the wipers and scuttle panel and go through the big grommet on the drivers side bulkhead, you will see a black plastic box in the bulkhead where the main wiring harness enters the car, to get the pipes inside the car you will need to carefully drill a hole in the plastic. Make sure you seal round it again afterwards. Where you come through is right above the main fuse box, at the bottom of that is some lives and earths you can use.

I tried jiggling them every which way for ages, after wd-ing them a gooden. Also tried prying up the arm while banging down the thread. Didn't move 1mm. The hot water isnt a bad idea but the tool should have them off tomorrow anyway hopefully.

Thanks

The tools already ordered and I'll be working in the car park outside my house, so I think I'll save myself the time and effort :)

Good man, I can't wait to get the gauges in mine :) and that kinda answers your question Adam. The wiper tool arrives tomorrow and I had to borrow a wireless drill, plus got my MOT done and pickup pipe changed tonight so had little time and didn't want to rush it. I'm hoping to get these gauges, the o2m fix, AND possibly my short shifter all done this weekend, but that all depends on the weather and me being able to actually do it.... I've never done any of these things so it's gonna be a learning curve...

I had my NOMAD pillar gauge pod mounted using long strips of extra strength velcro, held fine for the years it was in the car. Also meant there were no holes drilled in the a-pillar cover. Just took all the yellow clips out first, wrapped the velcro over the screen surround and stuck it on.

Invisible fixing and no movement with it either ;)
