Cheers Bill, I would be a bit more suspicious of the "Oil contamination" reason if CRT had done any recent work on it but it was over two years ago iirc that they rebuilt it, is that recent enough to be denying responsibility? i am going to make a oil line with the oil filter in it and do as you say check it often to see whats what. I change my oil every six months as it is and have a magnet sump plug which always has an amount of very fine metal bits on.

Well i now have the turbo back and nice and new it looks too! It has been totally rebuilt with a slightly larger and free flowing turbine fitted. I have also fitted a new wiring loom for the coil packs which i got from Awesome, this involves removing the original loom splitting it and removing all the required wires, then re fitting its not hard but it helps if you have the tool for getting the wiring connectors out of the plugs. i also modded my 3" TIP by getting a Badger5 3"adaptor as mine reduced at the turbo intake and Bill doesn't. I didn't fit the inline oil filter for the turbo mainly because CRT didn't send me one after i asked them too??

I have taken it for a good test run and all feels good and no oil leaks, just need to do some logs and see whats happening with the g/s and fueling, oh and replace the blue hose.

Well spoken to Mark at CRT and he has looked at the turbo and said it failed due to oil contamination and that in his experience it is a common problem on the 1.8T across the VAG range, so he is rebuilding it and adding a larger compressor wheel so it should flow alot better, i am also adding a serviceable oil filter into the oil feed line to try and stop any problems in the future, i will check it every month to begin with to check it as i dont want to cause oil starvation problems.

CR Turbos rebuilt my GT2x TWICE and said it was down to oil contamination both times! The oil is changed on a regular babis and 1000 miles after the turbo is fitted after rebuilt...
I run the car no problem on a daily basis at 1 bar, any time its set to anything higher ie the 1.4bar its mapped for the turbo destroyed its self...

1 bar is 14.7psi, are you still wanting to log this or sort out the problem we were speaking about first
Also spoke to techie about rear beam bushes, he said pre 2003 they had steel inner and outer casings and are not easy to remove. Butane time?

Yes the car has stopped smoking now, i had put some of that injector valve cleaner in so it may have been that?? i was reading about the rear bushes and the liner thing the other day, it said its was harder to re-fit than get out so at least with the poly ones it should be easier.
