erm, where the rest of your water pump impeller?

Yeah i know i found it in the bucket i had catching the water. Funny though as it didn't seem to affect the cooling.

Finally confirmation of the existence of the elusive metal impeller water pump

I know it took me a while to get find one.

Those washer jets look much sleeker than the chunky honda ones
If you need a hand doing the logging give me a shout
I may ask you to quickly log mine too so i can see if next months 3" TIP brings some gain

Yeah they are much better, thanks Tim some help would be good, i need to watch the timing figures and drive LOL just not sure when to do them, but i know the perfect place.

Hi Phil,

I've just read your thread post GT2X as I'm after some info, thanks for posting up the progress :).

Anyway, I know that your using the LCR intercooling setup, charge pipe etc so I wanted to ask you, did you 'HAVE' to customise the charge pipe to fit with this turbo, so that the Charge Pipe - Turbo elbow hose would connect? Also, how did you connect the elbow to the turbo, direct fit or requires modification?

I would also like to ask if you had to upgrade the injectors? I assume that for the GTRS at least I would need 600cc+ but this is all new ground for me so excuse my questions. I guess that mapping was all possible within the OE ECU without the need for a piggyback ECU and it appears that you're using the OE MAF meter?

I'm considering the GTRS Eliminator kit myself (350bhp) at some point as opposed to a conventional GT2860 kit (which I believe ATP use in the GTRS kit) which changes the routing of all the turbo components.

I've read a few comments on the issues you had regarding lag, is this a characteristic of the ATP kit in general i.e. worse than conventional BT setup or is this BT's in a nut shell?

On a side note, should you crave more power & once rods are done, would you be able to swap out this for a larger GT eliminator turbo?

Thanks and apologies for the questions :).

Jason,

I didn't have to mod anything except the water feed as the GT2X is oil cooled only, the charge pipe is left as it is for the turbo to charge pipe connector i used a 90o reducer 51mm>76mm and then a 76mm alloy 45o bend cut down to size then a 76mm joiner you can see it in the pic below.

I used LCR injectors and LCR Maff and then had a custom map from P-torque. The Lag has got alot better with a few mods which i would recommend i got a 3" TIP (Not badger5's) and a 3" down pipe and decat, the main problem with the GT2X is its flow, the better it can breath the better, (although i am having mine rebuilt (oil seal) and additional hybridisation done at the same time which should see me over the 300bhp mark) Lag is an issue on BT's though.
Any more info you need just ask mate no worries. :D

It should be being done later next month, yeah just give me a shout when you are ready.

I have also been working on the bay again adding a bit of braided hose here and there, i also fitted the oe screened LCR maf and found the one i had on was smaller?? so i should be flowing a bit more air now LOL.

The MAF was probably 3" ID so 76.2mm instead of 80mm
Ready to relocate anytime you are i have all the bits and the car is stripped out too
Finding the cloth more grippy than the leather?

Thanks Phil. If I go down this route myself then I will be choosing the GTRS kit as the GT2X isn't a large enough gain for the money over the K04. I think that I will need 630cc injectors for this setup, rods of course and TBH I think that's it. A high flow manifold would be great but at present there is nothing reliable on the market. There's a possibility that I'll need another 3" TIP to fit the setup (depending on where the turbo ends up sitting) so I will have to prepare for that extra cost.

It's all just idea right now for me but I'd love to do something like this. I just need to decide on whether it's worth it or giving up the Leon an starting with something higher powered from standard...we'll see but thanks for the info :).

you considering a laggy GTRs eliminator over a hybrid?
really???

Has a decent hybrid been built yet?! I was reading rsmith's thread with interest and although he now has a revised version of his original hybrid I don't think he's tested it yet. In seriousness though, a hybrid would become a viable option if people started to consistently see big power, at the moment they're all floating around 300bhp. Maybe that's dependant on that elusive exhaust manifold.
