Cheers mate, appreciate the useful tip. There's not much on detail how people have polished so that has really helped. Will take the advice on board mate, thanks again :)

I've lost count of the amount of them I've polished :)
If you want to loose the seam line in the middle file it down then go over it with the sander, they look a lot better with it smoothed out.
If you get stuck give me a shout ;)

Will do mate :D
I've got a little idea for the bottom half, might be painting it yet, either red/black?? Just to different, including the inlets themselves...

If I were do do that, and took the inlet off, would I need to replace anything or vagcom for the throttle body?

Well I've completed all my stages of sanding last night all the way through to P1500 grit!
Needless to say my arms were dead, and I was persistent even though it was raining!! Made my own little tent with I huge umbrella, and an LED Torch hanging from the bonnet, luckily it stopped raining at 9.30pm, but carried on till 10:50pm :| determination is key.

Here's some pictures of the progress from last night:

Today's pic before the 3 stage polishing:

Before I started the polishing, my 10mm I/D silicone hose came, so I took the old one off, and put the new one on.

Out with the old:

The old pipe is discoloured from the wet and dry the night before haha!

In with the new:

And then the 3 stage polishing began. And in total it took me just shy of an hour, and what a difference just after stage 1:

By the time I had finished stage 3, it had become dark, so excuse the pants pictures :( will take a day shot tomorrow :).

Well I started with some further progress on the lcr.

Started with the charge pipe clamps, look awful compared to the polish look, so to keep up with the theme, I painted them red. Also bought some VHT Clear paint, the next best thing to lacquer, as I couldn't find a VHT Lacquer :(

Before the VHT Clear paint:

After the VHT Clear paint:

Nice and shiny :) .... After that I started the heat shield, and all I need to do now is to get the hole drilled for the TIP, and put the trim back on.
After spraying red, and finishing it off with the Clear VHT Paint I thought I would finish the battery cover with the clear paint as well.
There was a problem with the small box bracket that fills the hole on the battery cover, as the bracket was snapped when I 1st bought it, so I did a little fabrication with some silicone hosing, and a plaster board screw (will upload the pics tomorrow) progress as follows:

And the "S" sticker made to good use IMO:

Update:

As stated last night, I have painted all the parts (including the bolts that secure the clamps on the charge pipe ;) )

So here it all is fitted, and with the trim now on the heat shield:

The reason for the silicone and plaster board screw, is purely due to the plaster board screw being the right diameter for the silicone.
This being the case, I know that using a nut and bolt would have done the job, but I wouldn't have got a secure fit without it rattling, so this was personally the best option, and it was exactly the right length, so that it would enable the centre piece to sit flush with the battery cover, as it used to for all of 10mins or a 5min drive, not any longer ;)

Unfortunately not, it's off the road, and been meaning to update this for some time actually (so thanks for the reminder )

Took it off the road as had a few niggly problems.
Cv joint has gone on the drivers side, also needed an mot, and taxing, and more to it the window came off the mechanism so I had to rip the door card off as it fouled the latch so couldn't even open the door.
Drivers seat was broken when I bought it, and basically wasn't looked after, so my idea was to take it off the road and spend some time on it.

Since all this I have repaired the window, put a new cv joint on, and replaced all the tyres as they were looking bare!

My plans are to sort the car out cosmetically, and re-do the engine bay. When I took it off the road I decided to get a better mpg daily without losing performance and bought a clio 182.
It handles amazing, but just hasn't got the speed or comfort that this has. Took it for a spin on an industrial estate using my friends trade plates and put a instant smile on my face again!

I'm toying with the idea of doing it up and it becoming my daily again or weekend car :-D or putting the engine from this in the clio. Someone did an s3 conversion in a clio 182 and they are the same engine apart from the Quattro, so this could also be an option.

This is the engine bay in the clio so going to do the bay on the leon again as used VHT paint and looks tacky, and spruce it up, then I will be sorting the callipers on the leon too. My method is the more I do to the Leon the more I won't want to do the conversion ;) lol

And a few others

I'm thinking of taking some of my ideas from this and doing it to the Leon, like painting the diffuser, and painting some of the interior parts, used the clio as an experiment and had some positive reviews, so I will make sure I post some progress pics of the Leon and not my clio next time though lol!!

Great to hear you still have plans for LCR. Im in the same boat as you, mine is currently off the road too. Im actually thinking about starting on it again tomorrow and starting a readers ride. Ive got nearly all the parts I need except one or two small things. Waiting on a wavetrac diff so I can also put in the clutch and flywheel at the same time so it'll be drivable again!

Loving the clio as a daily! My daily is a cupra while im working on the LCR.

Looking forward to the next update as I read your whole readers ride last night!

Right boys and girls, massive change of plans, I'm putting the leon back on the road so I need some advice as it's been off the road for 18months and only drove it 6miles (and one of the bolts was loose on my alloy, not that I knew at the time, so I didn't push the car) however I'm taking it to a garage for an oil change, filters and spark plugs (coil pack wasn't done to far back before taking it off the road). Do I need to flush the engine as I am conscious that I'm going to ruin it?

Thanks in advance

Sorted the car:

2 new tyres
New wheel bolts all round
Tracking
New nsf wheel hub
New steering arm
New reverse switch
New wiper blades
Full service
Power steering leak sorted

Then a guy on ebay was unfortunately breaking his cupra R, so had all new door cards as mine were all broken (including switches)
New nsr window regulator
New (used) climate control unit
New (used) cup holder
And rear ashtray (just because there was a gaping hole)
He's a top bloke and is sending me the new washer jets and pipe work for them tomorrow.

Sorted the side skirt and the airbox (found the bolts for the maf to airbox as thought I'd lost them from when I had the induction kit on it)

Off for its MOT tomorrow and then tax and will be legal again happy days and thanks for looking.

Well it passed its MOT with one advisory which I will sort at a later stage, and of course taxed .

So from all the parts I bought, I've cracked on the past 2 evenings, and both nights finished at 12.15am
Taken the old door cards off, and replaced them for new switches and door cards, then I fit the front passenger with a door card, as this one hasn't been on for nearly 2 years due to me ripping it off when the window fell through and destroying the original one, and it looks so weird not seeing the regulator and the inner door haha.

Replaced the dual seat belt clasps.

Replaced the cup holder and the climate control (what a difference those 2 make)

Re-fitted my stereo that I took out to put in my clio.

Replaced the regulator on the rear passenger (as the guy originally gave me just the motor, so paid extra for the miss communication and got the whole plate)
However the above is what I've been tackling since 9pm, and managed to get the old one off, and the new in.
The old regulator wire had got tangled in the motor and looked as though squirrels had been at it, and found 2 planks of wood in the door. The useless idiot that had the car before me, or the garage that had it clearly did the ultimate bodge job, using the wood to stop the window from falling too far down (if you're going to bodge at least wedge it so the window wouldn't have come down at all ffs), anyways the window wasn't even attached to the old regulator either, so fitting the new one has meant even though it now works (which in turn means no more leaks as it now doesn't let the window drop) the glass doesn't go down with the regulator, and after many failed attempts I have no idea how to fit the glass to the regulator.
So I called it a night and decided to put the new door card on, so at least it is all secure.

Just need to fit my new washer jets, and hopefully try and get some new coilpacks for piece of mind.

I will update the pictures at a later stage

Cheers

If anyone needs the piece I am after (as done some extensive searching online)
You will need a plastic bung, that will allow the window to go up and down with the regulator. Ebay item 161399246954

Hope this helps anyone if they get stuck and buy a regulator like I did from a car that is being broken.
