PD100 - Upgraded to 200 BHP?

Insurance companies make it up as they go along in my experience. A young dude i know just got his first car, a late 80's VW Polo (with the boot) 1.0litre. His insurance is a not so cool £2,700 on a £1500 car. But this is the best bit......when he passes his test it goes up to £3,300!!!!!!!
Insurance companies are crooks, it's a licence to print money.

Just to settle this, yes 200 BHP is possible from a PD100 engine, how do I know? My car is currently putting out 203bhp and 340ft/lbs torque.

Would I recommend it to someone who was looking to do it? Simple answer, no ****ing way.

Being as honest as possible, the car stands me ALOT of money, the last time I calculated it up it was over 3k and that's without labour charges as bar mapping etc I do most of the work myself.

Even after my advice you are interested in going ahead with this, here is a quick spec list of what I have done to it:

1.9TDi PD100 Standard

Modifications:
- PD150 Turbo
- PD150 Injectors
- Seat Sport FMIC
- Forge Boost Pipes
- Allard EGR Delete Pipe
- Milltek Turbo Back Exhaust (Non-Resonated)
- PD160 Intake
- Green Cotton Panel Filter

That's not even including all the modifications handling wise I have done.

Also, new clutch is essential as mine hasn't lasted very long at all, next big bill which willmprobablynbein around the £700 mark.

Not to mention either that I had to replace all 4 injectors too at £300 cause of an intermittent misfire.

Don't get me wrong, the car puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it, but I don't even bare to think what I could have had if I had saved all the money I'd spent on it and bought a higher spec car.

My car will more than likely be for sale very soon, so if you don't want to take a it hit on all the parts costs, you can buy mine :)

Agree with vroomtshh.
But in this case maybe we could consider to buy used cupra and get most parts onboard including better seats, cockpit and somewhat different engine and transmission.
Other thing is, in my country there is not much used cupras and in other hand if you are first owner to your car you know how healthy she is. When buying used car in Balcan errior you never know how mistreated she is or what is the actual mileage.
So, it is matter of choice. In either way you could be pleased or dissapointed at the end.

That's absolutely correct. I love my car, was hard to find a white one over here, never mind a white Cupra, one thing led to another and I just needed more and more uprated parts... Next big bill like i said is a new clutch, plus I have 323mm Leon R brakes waiting to go onto it when I get a free day.

You will actually find quite a few people now who are having a go at the PD100 engine, not sure for what reason but they do have the same profile cams etc. as the 130 so at least those parts won't need to be tinkered with.
