Over-filled Oil

well at least it was a little too much. i had a friend who done a oil change for the first time and thought a 1ltr botttle of oil was enough. (didnt actually realise how much came out lol)
but came round to ask for advice on why his car was sounding like a diesel (2ltr petrol hyundai coupe) i explained that his tappets had gone or going and that the problem was no oil. lucky for him i was able to top him up with some old oil i had lying around to get him to a garage. he was told the tappets had started to go.. needles to say he sold it soon after.

Brings back memories of many moons ago when my mum bought a 5l bottle of oil to top her car up and simply poured the entire bottle in, it only needed 2 -3 ish litres to bring it back to max as it wasnt registering on dipstick, killed the engine in the end smoked like a trooper lol

Anyone know how much oil the TDI 110 engine takes ?
