I think DSG might have some delays associated with it, but if it does that wasn't made clear to me at the time of order. All the delays I heard about were the 1.4 EcoTSI engine, which was part of the reason I stepped up to the 1.8.

Still not heard anything from SEAT UK - guarantee he's going to call me when I'm in the cinema later - then it'll be my fault because I didn't answer

There was a guy posted in another thread around 4 weeks ago that worked for a SEAT dealer, he said that it literally changes week on week and every week all SEAT dealers get sent this document that exclusively talks lead times and relates to options too, he said that all a dealer can tell you is what they know, if based on your order they tell you 15 weeks, then the following week they get their update, the same specced car could show as 20 or something like that.

Edit: Just found that other thread, post 21 onwards.......

Thanks for the feedback.

I like the Monsoon Grey on your car Caps. Looks very smart, especially with the 18s.

Will colour affect the build times as well ? e.g. would choosing stock Med Blue be any quicker than a metallic colour maybe..?
Med Blue looked ok on the showroom FR and saves a few quid for other options...

Bugger, we couldn't go for anything other than the DSG having had 2 Leons with them now so probably why we're being told 30+ weeks maybe...

As far as I am aware, colour does not have any effect on lead time.

Well it arrived just after 11:00 this morning and I am so happy. Managed to go for a drive this afternoon for about an hour and I love it even more. And yes, the wait was worth it. Several times I got frustrated at the waiting times but I'm so glad I didn't do anything daft like cancel my order.

Hi everyone,

Ordered Eclipse Orange 1.8 TSI on October 20th. Contract states delivery approximately 5 months (not in UK). Contacted dealer today, said it's going to take at least a month, a month and a half to get a build date. So I expect it somewhere around the end of March. Dealer told me not to go for the 18' wheels or it would add up on the waiting.

Fun thing is I only drove the 1.4 TSI as they didn't have 1.8 TSI, so I really don't know what to expect but from what I read it's better except for fuel economy.

Spoke to Raheel at Seat UK today.

So it turns out the the confirmed build Week 3 that I was told by both Seat UK and the dealership isn’t actually confirmed. It’s still unconfirmed Week 3 with delivery estimate Week 10.

This would make it 32 weeks from order to delivery. :censored:

I clarified a point made a few posts ago, which is that SEAT considers the lead time from the time that the factory accepts the order. Like many others in this thread, it turns out that the week I ordered (Week 30, July) is not the same as when SEAT accepted the order, which was in September.

Raheel has said he needs to call to dealership to explain the discrepancy but I have said regardless of what the dealer says, they have no control over how fast (or bloody slowly) SEAT builds the car.

I have made it very clear that SEAT either needs to sort out the build week and get it to me for early January or they need to give me in writing how they are going to compensate me for the additional 7 weeks delay (which may yet be even longer as the build/delivery are not confirmed!!!)

Next phone call from him will be Tuesday, and if he doesn’t call me as promised I’m going to completely blow my top. If he doesn’t give me what I want to hear on Tues I will see if I can escalate it higher.

He didn’t call me on Thursday as promised. I rang customer services on my lunch break today and left a message for him asking him to call me back.

To his credit, he did, and he said he hadn’t called because he hadn't managed to get in touch with the dealership. I told him next time he needs to call me whether or not he has any new information. If you promise to call someone, you do it, new info or not.

Wow that's scandalous! Waiting close to a year for a car...what's this, the Soviet Union where they'd wait for 10 years to get a Moskvich or a Lada?!?!

BTW before ordering the Seat, I looked into Mazda 3 and there was waiting as well (car would be delivered February 2018 if I ordered in October 2017)

I've just found out the system by which build weeks are determined.

It's shown in this video - just replace the items on the floor with numbers, and the words 'most prudent move' with 'build week'.

https://youtu.be/wz-PtEJEaqY

Back in 2013 there were big delays with sunroofs, but the situation currently can only be described as chaos.

Just an update on my order. As previously stated on here, I was told by SEAT Customer Services on 11th October that my Confirmed Build Week was week 45 (w/c 6th Nov). So, just to make sure everything was going to plan, I phoned them up again today, only to be told that there is NO CONFIRMED BUILD WEEK for my car! What on earth are they playing at?!

Tom at the Executive Office has been dealing with my complaint, and has so far offered me a free service for the inconvenience. I am expecting a call back from him on Wednesday...but in light of this news, I suspect it could be a very interesting phone call...

As previously stated, my dealer is remaining completely silent on the matter...

Beyond a joke now.
