Ok guys, VAG-COM logs reveal no increase or decrease in performance and no fault codes with the N249 bypassed. Dump reaction is much quicker and throttle response seems improved.

I make no apologies for the "dirtiness" of my engine bay. Its there to propel the car, not to look all pretty.

On the AUQ engined Leon 1.8T Cupra and Sport, it should look something like this:

n249.jpg

Here's a labelled diagram that is pretty self explanatory:

n249labelled.jpg

1. Remove the vacuum hose between the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) and the underside of the intake manifold.

2. Use 4mm silicone vacuum hose and go direct from newly freed Vac port on intake manifold to top of DV.

3. Put a 6mm BRASS T-piece in the new hose parallel to the FPR and run another length of hose to the FPR vacuum port.

4. Cable Tie the new vac hose wherever it connects to something else.

5. Remove the Vacuum resevoir (Ugly black plastic thing directly over the No.4 cylinder coil pack). The hose going into it simply pulls off.

6. Plug the Vac Resevoir hose with a bolt and clamp it in there with a worm drive or jubilee clip. Do the same with the hose that used to be connected to the top of the Dump valve.

I recommend using brass t-pieces as they don't go brittle and snap when exposed to heat and oil, plastic does. Use cable ties rather than jubilee clips on the silicone hose you've fitted.

I hope this is a help to Leon Cupra owners who haven't seen the need to fit an LCR intake manifold.
Is there another vacuum on the inlet then? If so where does it go?
I read to take a feed from each, and one to the the FPR and the other to the dump valve.

most of that gubbins isnt there on th AUQ cupra lump... same job still is it?? just block the 249valve with a bolt and some vac pipe and run some vac pipe to the inlet manifold??

what about the 79valve?? where's this and what is this i hear about resistors??

(rembering this is an 180 AUQ lump peeps not a 225 lump)

Now all you need to do is get rid off the evap, secondary air and the other valve that sits next to the N429, it makes the bay look a lot less cluttered. Oh and Mr Greesha i disagree it is there to look pretty :p

Ross has changed how he has done his now [from the guide above]

"I've changed mine now Adam, its even easier. Remove both small vac hoses from the nipples on the underside of the right hand side of the intake manifold. Run new 4mm silicone hose from these, one to the FPR and one to the top of the DV. Job done. The 3 hoses that you've disconnected (2 from intake manifold and 1 from top connection on DV) just get plugged with a screw"

i did this bypass to my 225 cupra, it has had a stage 1 remap and a forge 007p. It played havoc with my car!!!!! it felt hesitant under acceleration and the turbo didn't feel half as strong as it was before . Anyway took it to my local specialist and he said it shouldn't be bypassed, it threw up a diverter fault code, he restored it to pre-bypass state and cleared the code and now it runs sweet as a nut again, massive improvement. Filled it with super unleaded and a tub of octane booster and it fly's with no hesitation and the turbo feels alot stronger all the way through the rev range. Just thought i'd put my experience into the pot incase anyone else has the same problems, big thanks to David Goddard at thetford for his help! :D

I put it down to your octane booster, the improvement.

no, it was massively improved as soon as it was reverted back to normal, i put the petrol and octane booster in once i'd driven it 30/40 miles. it was definatly the bypass that messed with my car, not saying it will with everyones!

well ive finally done this mod to after carefull consideration.. and ive gota say.. its certainly has made a difference to throttle responce.. although the top of my dv was a lil loose to so i took that off and giv a it a service too.. but shes certainly pulling better n much smoother now! n the dv opens up faster which makes a louder noise..

it was very simpe to do.. 5 min job n def worth doing :D

Done mine today...

.. Done mine today too.. after being messed around by idiots on eBay that sai they had yellow hose.. when they didnt...

If it helps for anyone.. i ended up using 6mm hose with a 4mm joiner.. the 4mm joiner went into old (cut off shorter) black pipe.. and the 6mm yellow hose went over the bit in the middle of the joiner.. perfect fit! 6mm then fitted perfect onto forge recerc valve + a couple of cable ties for added security.. EASY!

It does seem abit more responsive.. after the remap too and the recerc valve.. im geting nearly no turbo lag at all in gear change.. tis allll good guys, do it!!
