its a relay mate it all comes apart without disconnecting anything mate, all i did was take this apart remove the case which just pulls out when you push the tab on the back, when the relay and base is clear and on its own the cable runs into the the balck casing, just hide the relay and base in there mate and put the lid on then mount your catch can there as low as you can mate fixing the catch can bracket to the car with self drilling screws if you were local would of give you a hand mate

Sounds a bit difficult. Will have a butchers on the weekend. Don't suppose you're going to the AmD rolling road day in February?

Got all my bits but will have a go next weekend. Pics would be really helpful, where the pipes go to and from as well as what you've done with the relay. Ta.

To be honest mate it was really straight forward and from start to finish was about 4 1/2 hours if you use the same cooler size i did all will fit nice, i decided not to use the forge map pipe and kept the standard 1 on as there was alot of bother cutting things, the only thing needed cutting was a piece of metal by the inlet and outlet of the cooler that was it, all you will need is a extra 60mm coupler as the standard map pipe is 60mm and push the 63mm alloy pipe into that for a nice tight fit it will go with abit of lube

Well Mr.Postman arrived today with some goodies, yippeee :funk::funk: In my excitement i did a mock up of the way it will fit more or less. I plan to do any FMIC for dummies guide when I fit this, with pics of every step as there seems to be a lot of confusion out there.

@Harty
Does it look like I have everything?(Apart from bolts and joists)?
Are the 45c silicon hoses right, mine are 150mm long! I thought I seen short ones on your photo?
And i seem to have 2 spare couplers,(ordered 6) I assume this is for the MAP pipe? i will be leaving mine standard as i plan to do a custom one with a more direct feed to the inlet mani in the future.

I have booked Wednesday off work to go at this, so I want to make sure I have everything necessary for the job?

Sorry i may be back to you later with more Q's about attaching the FMIC to the crash bar!!
It will be worth it though when we have a detailed guide everyone can use.

Yes mate it all looks there, is the dark blue coupler the 60mm 1 to go onto the map pipe the reducers are spot on mate same as mine and dont need to be shortend all that will need shortening are some of the alloy pipes mate. i only orderd that many couplers because they came with 2 clamps and the clamps are that much to buy anyway so works out you get the coupler for free, you wont need a coupler for the charge pipe as will go straight onto the alloy pipe also be carfull how tight you tighten the clamps as it can make the pipe square and will leak, i double clamped all mine using all the old jubilee clips from the sidemounts just to make certain no leaks also when clamped these clamps wont clamp down enough for the intercooler 57mm in and outlet i think, just use jubilee clips and they will be fine mate, any clamps left over i used for the inlet mani and charge pipe so was all good feel free to ask questions mate and will help as much as possible when fixing the cooler dont use to long a bolt to fix into the cooler as it will break into the coolers core, pack the off with nuts and washers or cut the bolt down

Yes, i ordered it separate, i don't mind having bits left over, rather that then having the car off the road for a few days while i wait for a small part

Which Pipes did you have to cut, the upper or lower 90c alloy pipes?

i only orderd that many couplers because they came with 2 clamps and the clamps are that much to buy anyway so works out you get the coupler for free.
True that, i have paid double for just the clamps before.

you wont need a coupler for the charge pipe as will go straight onto the alloy pipe also be carfull how tight you tighten the clamps as it can make the pipe square and will leak,
Wow, i would have never thought the alloy pipes would bend when using a circular clamps, thats good to know though

What size bolts did you use, i think they are 8mm? and how did you attach it to the crash bar? i was thinking of drilling holes in the center top of the bar and mounting it from underneath, i could be wrong though,

I can't wait to get this started, gonna start loggin the inlet temps and torque tomorrow so i know if the mod made a difference :funk:

Thanks again Harty

It all depends how close to the car you want the pipes and if you want to keep your fogs as to how much to cut off mate, i cut a good few inches off the top and bottom 90 to keep it close in if you get me, then left enough room for cold air feeds or fogs
I think i used used 8 mmx25mm bolts to give play then cut them down if needed, with 8x25mm bolts you can adjust the cooler with washers till u are happy with how it sits mate
this is it fixed using joist l brackets/straps it should fit just below the x piece/slam pannel brace and halfway up the crash bar

That helps me a huge amount, i already have brackets like yours and yes it would be nice to keep the fogs but i haven't seen anyone yet that was able to manage to do this.

Thanks H.

I could easily keep my fogs mate aslong as you keep the pipes tight and low in the bumper
