funny that they're stripping the 'box down - most dealerships would RTB the box to be done by a person that knows them inside out.

i thought that, had the same thing with as simple a thing as a starter motor, they had the car in and stripped it to see what was wrong.
surely would be easier and cheaper to just replace under warranty

Hmmm. It hasn't done it for a week. It seems to have sorted itself out.

I might hold off on taking it to the dealer and see if it comes back. I've still got plenty of warranty left.

Scott,

Dont forget the third year is a dealer warranty not SEAT UK so you might have a fight on your hands to get major components changed....

Mine grinds sometimes from 1st to 2nd but I thought I was simply trying to be too fast for the box?

Sh*t, mine started a few weeks ago, 2nd to 3rd when giving it some welly. I also thought was just being a bit quick for the box. Only got 15k on mine! Looks like trip to useless dealers, again!

Cheers Max. They're a good bunch though. The service manager said no problems leaving it and volunteered the fact that I have warranty for another year. I'm sure I'll have no problems.

I think I've just entered the final year anyway. :)

Final year for me too.

Sorry to hear about that m8, hope it's not the gearbox.......not sure why it would come and go? someone did say hot weather, suppose that could affect it. Suppose your gearbox bearly gets warm on the way to work?

Good news that Holders are being positive.

How loud is the crunch? Failry noticible?

It is when it does it yeah, loud enough for my friend to ask whether or not I'd considered using the clutch...

Doubt it, my old and then standard Leon Cupra did it exactly the same. Sounds like either a production fault or shite syncro's are used. :thumbd:

my moneys on shite syncros or linkages, very poor quality parts used historically by VAG

It was more than just a sound. It physically got stuck slightly and you had to give it a bit of an extra shove.

Steve, it wasn't just on trips to work it was happening though - on longer journeys as well.

Now I think back I think it happend once or twice on my Cupra, but never to the extent it did on the R. This almost felt it was physically sticking at times. :(

Anyway, it's still behaving itself now. :)
