My Cordoba Coupe Trackday Car Project

With Oulton Park next weekend its a mad rush to get things done, though not help by suppliers who don't send out the good out on time

Decided to go back to basics with the airfilter set-up to somthing like I had before after dabbling with an enclosed airbox which seemed to be holding the car back at high RPMs. Somtime next week its off to have the mapping looked at as its mapped with the airbox.

Tommorow I'm fabbing up some all sheet to deflect air from the grill onto the filter itself.

I've had to do an 'alteration' to the bonnet as it wouden't shut

Got to whip out the front studs, clean out the threads and re-loctite after they worked there way loose in september, got to replace a hub & bearing as 2 of the threade holes became damaged in the loose wheel incident but waiting for parts.

If I got time I'll whack on the 28mm rear Nuespeed ARB but thats not looking promising!

Car back in one piece, Not all that happy how the bonnet has turned out but will do until I get another bonnet and have another go.

Also put back the OEM rear spoiler on for the time being.

Hoping the hubs turn up tommorow other wise I'm potentially screwed for next weekend!

:Update:

Got the Hub sorted and the studs wound out, cleaned and re-loctited and took the car down to RPM to have the map looked at and tweaked. Before the car was put on the rollers they performed a compression & leak down tests to reveal that No.3 & 4 cylinders were lazy coming up to compression and by sticking a camera down the spark plug bores showed the head gasket had gone between the cylnders. Will have to wait until the gasket is changed before running it up on the rollers.

In the mean time I've been upto a few other things

Arosaracer ran an idea past me of making up some alloy ramps to help gain access underneath a car.

Quite a good idea really as I myself are a little fed up of not being able to get a halfords type jack under the chassis rails of a lowered car and often use either the highly dangerous scissor jack or driving up on blocks of wood. They're quite simple to make, don't weigh much and can take the weight of a 4 tonne transit!

Decided to complete a project I've had under my bench for a good 12 months Been looking at ways of stiffening up/reinforcing the rear beam and one of the ideas floating around is triangulating the beam with diagonal tube braces. This reinforces the beam against side impacts and big loads and is said to reduce the amount of flex in the beam also.

Pretty simple modification if you've the tools and facilitys, all it needs now is to be shot blasted & powdercoated black

Not entirely sure weather it will be fitted the car or passed on as I have a 28mm rear ARB to be fitted and one of the tubes is likely to foul the rear silencer
