Mosyed down to Halfords this morning to buy the all important earthing trap at a whopping £4.50, pretty funny after last afternoons antics where I decided to give the battery a good charge by driving it to Halfords to pick up the said strap.

Didn't appreciate at the time it needed the strap for the battery to charge from the alternator and it died 4miles from home:doh: with the folks out of town I had to wait almost 2 hrs for AA to arrive and point out the error of my ways:redface:

you will have to be VERY careful using that battery - if its the same as mine its only 16Ah I think and although it has shed loads of cranking juice, they go flat very quickly if not used 'with thought'

Std is something like 70Ah (?)

If you sit in the car with the ignition on and the engine not running - 5mins it will be flat - as I found out waiting at the startline at Aintree after a chap infront of me crashed and halted proceedings - needed a bump start on the grid LOL

I have a trickle charger for mine that I leave plugged in all the time when its not in use so the battery is always 100%

Not sure I would run one on a daily driver

680 Cranking amps, and yeah - 16h

Its gone far beyond a daily driver, I just thought I'd make it even more impratical:lol:

It gets fired up every weekend if I can remember, will see how it goes:)

Not had the time or inclination to do anything on the car recently due to one reason or another but thought it was time for a little update.

Ended up buying a battery charger as the battery doesn't seem to like to hold its charge for more than week, I think Ive got a drain somewhere as its been known to drain a std one quicker than normal

Whilst cleaning the car today (yes really!) I noticed the bracket for the coilpack had broken, whereby the ally plate has cracked beside the welds. Can only speculate that this has been cuased by vibration from the engine alone as the coilpack isnt that heavy or under any strain. Will need to have a little think on a solution.

Got new front discs and pads to go on but will put that off till the cooling duct shrouds are made before Donington in october. Just got to save my pennies for a diff now

The electrics started doing funny things about 10 mins before it died, battery light came on, then the instruments went dim as did the HID's started to flicker, then the ABS light came on and it cut out.

Alternator is only 20 months old and done only 4k! That will be coming off and have it tested locally, but that wont be for a while just yet
