Oh God Jordan since you said it makes it look like an old Micra I've swiftly changed my opinion to matte black.

And as for those alloys, I think they'd be a great set for the Ibiza. Reckon they'd suit them a treat, plus it's something a bit different.

Pretty sure the micra was designed by the same dude, fiat rejected it so nissan had it

Just been sanding down the rust patches on the doors, it was only very light surface rust, should have it all prepped next week ready for paint

wow! thats immaculate. id love one of these. i remember my mate's mum had a mk1 system porsche in silver or light grey about 10 years ago. i used to have a seat marbella at 1 point for work too. that was a funny old thing, previous owner had put a full powerflow stainless on it from the manifold back.

Thanks smithy, shes got a couple of small rust spots which im sorting out, but other than that she's pretty mint all round. Never failed a MOT from new either!!!

Once ive got the bodywork sorted she's going for a long over due cambelt change!! then I'll take her to a have a bit of a tune at a place down the road that deals with classics, just want the carb setting so I know shes running spot on, might even let them put her on the dyno and see how many ponies are left in that system porsche engine!!

Stumbled across this thread by accident and I'm sooo glad I did. I have not seen one of these for years. This is absolutely fantastic, I'm excited and its not even my car

Did you ever get it on the rollers? Or get the cam belt done? Or the body bits :D

The body work is 99% complete, just the doorlock that needs doing since the attempted break in.

It's been sat in the garage since october gathering dust, gonna put it through the MOT next month, but it'll go back in the garage after that due to the insurance going up around 400% this year!! £156 last year, renewal £542! and I didnt claim for the door lock!

Although someone came up with the idea of putting a Uno Turbo engine in it (as its more fiat than VAG) So I might see about finding a 1.4 turbo on flebay for it

Other than a screw in the tyre nothing has changed from the last pics I uploaded. I bought a new car in April so thats taken up my time recently.

I must be craig! Insurance on my 320bhp spazda is only £409 fully comp, with quadruple the mileage and worth 10 times more.

Started the mk1 up today for the 1st time since January, after a couple of turns she fired into life. Will get her down for the MOT next month. Can't see it failing on owt

Managed to get insurance down to £178 now. So I'll get her in for the MOT in July and hopefully tax and insure her once more!

Theres also a couple of Mk1s for sale at the moment, over on the ibiza owners site which need a small amount of work doing to them. If they dont sell soon they guy will be scrapping them!

Small update

I decided to start work on the body work. Yes its im pretty good shape for its age, but the bottoms of the doors and arches were all showing signs of rust.

Stripped the trim down off the drivers side and started to smooth down the doors. Eveyrthing comes of this car so easy, 10mm socket and a phillips screwdriver get 90% of things off!

A previous repair I found while I was smoothing the doors

Heres the sample piece of wrap that I orderd
dc7a3455.jpg

As you can see its so much whiter than the 23year old paintwork, which is uber creamy looking.

And heres my 1st ever attempt at wrapping anything!

Its all a huge learning curve for me at the moment, and I think im picking it up pretty well. Just a couple of very small areas that need heating back up and relaying, but im 99% happy with it for a 1st attempt.

Hopefully if I dont make too many **** ups the full wrap shouldnt cost much over £100. I've got 6meters of 610mm vinyl for £19 which will do all 4 doors and the rear Quarter panel. Once the doors are done I'll have a measure up and see how many meters of 1220mm vinyl I'll need for the roof, bonnet and front wings. Hopefully I wont need any more than 10meters which will cost around £65

I know this wont be to everyones taste, but I think its going to be the route I take.

I doubt I'll ever use this as a daily driver again, so it will just goto a few shows.

Ive photoshopped loads of wheels and I think these Rota GT3's look the best with the ride height I want.
