Well I thought I'd take a look at what needed removing ready to fit the 2" lowering block. Jacked her up to get all the weight off the leaf spring, and as soon as I started to loosen the 1st bolt it snapped clean off, moved to the 2nd bolt, BANG yep clean in half again! So now I need to try and drill the fookers out and fit some new ones.

While it had nothing holding the leaf spring I decided to lower just jack and see how low she would actually go, and see if there was going to be any rubbing issues. Yep she goes uber low. Its sat on the bump stop in these pics, so as low as it can go, but no rubbing at all, just needs a wee bit of camber putting on.

I think the plan will be to see how it looks on the 2" block, then maybe remove 1 of the leafs from the spring. Wont be the best of rides, but it'll only be going to a couple of shows a year and nowhere else.

Glad someone does, Im about to smack it with a big fahookin hammer! lol 23years has taken its toll on the bolts, they either dont budge or just snap

if its any consolation, mine at 6 years old is just as bloody bad, had one of the bolts holding the strut brace in snap as i tried to undo the ****ing thing,

your car has come on a long way tho

Well I've picked up the wheels, Got caught in a rather nasty accident on the M1 but finally got home just as its going dark, so sorry about the quality of the pics

The tyre is obviously the wrong size for the car as its a 185, I'll be fitting 155's onto the wheels once they're refurbed.

Oh and the cambers all tits up, as most of the rear suspension is unbolted at the moment.

Once the rear suspensions adapted and the camber is set I'll be hoping to drop the back end another 40-50mm from how it is in the pics. Shouldnt get any rubbing with the 155/55 tyres I want.

Think it looks alright. Still unsure about the finish I want for the wheels. Gonna polish 1 up and do the P's with a black outline and see how it looks, then with Red outlines Maybe do a 50/50 on 1 wheel to get some opinions.

(the back end does look more golf like with the P-spots on!!)

Well I've had an hour spare today, so managed to finally get the leafspring removed (yes that why all pics were of drivers side only)

Split it down and going to test it with just a single leaf

I wont get the spring re-fitted just yet, as 2 of the bolt snapped as soon as the socket went on them, so need to get them out and weld a couple more in place.

Managed to get her out of the garage for the 1st time in what feels like years! Quickly swapped the standard wheel over for the P-slot and plonked the bumper back on to check for any rubbing.
Thankfully the 155/55/14's were a perfect choice, and even with it on the bump stops I can drive her with no rubbing at all.

Think shes sitting pretty on the back now

I know its not gonna be to everones liking, but it can go back to standard very easily if needed. It will be lucky to cover more than a couple of hundred miles a year as it isn't and never will be a daily ride.
