Alrite mate not sure if you still come on here but i was looking for some guidance on timing chains. I have a 92 vr6 with the dual upper chain and when i try to tighten the tensioner bolt in it only goes so far then just stops but its not hitting anything, was just wondering if you have ever had any issues like that? Its the new style tensioner bolt aswell.

hi pal , right make sure no1 pistion is tdc, and crank wheel is algined with both caseing and pulley marks (around 5 o clock) both camshafts are locked ,then re lease the oil from tensionor (thrers 2 types one with a tiny hole in centre .bit of 0/6 mig wire to realse it , then re prime in new oil ,to get the right tension , put a long bolt in an measure frrom were the chain tensionor to the outer thread were thread ends, (then you have the approx lengh so u dont risk over tighterning.(usely on obd1 twin cams , on obd2 ive found some ofthese have double changes and have a black plastic chain tensionor ,but the adjustable tensionor has a flat surface with no hole in the end , ive found these to be crap and can stick when refitting. make sure the chain tensionor is free moving and you dont have any chain slack ,as sometimes u can be half a tooth out ;)
