Around my way there was only me and strugers1 who had one, now there's another 3, someone from here, types a bit like a chav, so does that count lol, there is another one where I used to live with a cheap neo kit(chav) on it, I personally don't think they are a chav car, but who knows, what is the point in worrying, we can just laugh at them

lol bruv m8 isit me mayte? cuz im well fast in me wicked leon...

no seriously...
I know 2 other people with leons and they are both young families (like myself) people who wanted a safe family car, although i did see a red cupra in tesco's carpark the other day with obviously bald tyres parked in a family parking bay.... i personally thought that was a bit chav!

to be honest,i dont think its fair to brand young drivers as 'chavs'. im 20,got my car at 19,and i love performance. perfect recipe for a chav. but yet,iv not done anything rediculous, not driven like a maniac, not even generated interest from the pigs. even in my saxo i was pulled a few times, never in my leon.

imo, when you get into a leon, you become more responsible, you know you have the power, and pride on that, and you know you dont need to show off to anyone. this is how i feel, however i do know some1 who has a cupra R and drives like a maniac...

its the personality of the driver, not the age.

that thing about feeling more responsible, i agree with that, when i bought my leon i also went on an IAM training course (at 19) bcause it was a newer car and it was quick and i wanted to look after it, the car i had before i used to abuse alot (it was a 1.7tdi cavalier and deserved it) I even got pulled over in the cav once and when i asked the officer why i was pulled over he just said "becuase you are driving a cavalier" made me laugh.. touch wood i never had any hassel in the leon.. and its so understated that it does suprise a few people on the road.. when i was looking for a car i also wanted a mk4 golf more then anything but for the same engine, a better spec and lower insurance and perhaps most importantly cheaper!

yeah man,i wouldnt mind a training course lol!

as for the mk4 golf, the main thing that put me off that is the fact that it looks so outdated now, whereas the cupra r still holds its looks with the newer cars on the market.

Im 22 and i wouldnt say i was a chav as i believe i have worked hard for my car since i have been working since i was 14 and ive sort of had to work from having the 1.1 to diesels and now this and im sure the majority of people have had to do the same.

I don't think that the leon has becoming very chavvy, not from where im from and there is a massive boy racer scene here in Blackwood. The boys still seem to go for the usual stuff but as they are getting older they seem to be hitting the japanese cars. I guess because most of them are cheap and cheerful. We have got one or two leons going around who are boy racers but the majority are owned by older people for a family car.

As the car gets older though they are obviously become more common and more affordable. I think a car says a lot about a personality. So if someone is a chav and has one you would be able to tell. But i think that the majority of owners are not chavs and just ordinary guys and girls

ive been over blackwood in mine a few times,

seem to be a few cupra tdi's about now, like rockin horse shi t when i wanted one,

i too was looking at the golfs , but leon was better looking and a bigger boot , (new to the family man thing) prams n stuff etc

i still have my fiesta which i have spend thousands on but wouldnt class that as a chav car , i made that totally unique , even though its a 2001 mk5 people still take the time to look and appreciate the work involved

im not a stupid chav with neons and wish list all over my car, its all euro smooth , a one off job,

but my leon is smart looking as is , so am just doeing the subtle things on that , like hids, fabia wiper etc ,

each to their own i think if you want towaste money on sh*t things (sparesworld) then so be it
people will soon realise lexus lights and all have long gone out the window , and amore sublte approach not big jap looks

No chaved up ones in town where i live yet, which is good :) It's just mainly the saxo, corsa, and fiesta's etc

Well apart from the red one with body kit and ralliart badge on the bonnet from Barton thats up meggies quite a bit.

Well after reading this I must be part Chav as my better half has a Saxo VTR that I have modded for her, and it has led rear lights, new BMW style angel eye projector headlights with daytime running lights, a Magnex exhaust (thats only slightly louder than stock) as it came from a Saxo cup car so has a strict decibel level to adhere to, a full VTS interior, badgeless grille, and has all the rub strips, bumpers and grille colour coded. I've also lowered it and fitted 15 inch Skyline style alloys. This gives it that tidy look so when people see it they see a car that is well looked after.

and as for my Leon I am following the same route as I did with my old Passat estate and going for the OEM+ style so people aren't sure what your running but it's a nice tidy looking motor. [B)]

im 19 and drive the fr150 which is mapped and im starting to mod it tastefully, just because us young drivers are buying seats doesnt make us so called "Chavs". the recless drivers are usually the older ones! When your paying £260 a month on car insurance i think you look after your cars dont you!

second that, but with a different car, we more likely to drive a lot more carefully due to us having silly premiums and that..

Not many Chavs here anymore they're mostly polish now. LOL.

There are only 2 other LCR's that i've seen here, owned by people my age. Quite a few 1.6 SE knocking about, but not modified in anyway. Mostly the Chav cars are still the nova's, saxo's etc. In fact one of the Nova's tried to overtake me down a bypass a few weeks ago, so i lulled him in let him start overtaking and just put my foot down. hehe. You would've thought he'd realise he was trying to overtake an LCR!! I guess that boy racer spirit comes out in all of us though sometimes :)
