It's true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I think sometimes people try so hard to 'be different' that they end up making a statement of really poor taste.

Couldn't agree more with that.

I think that at the end of the day the stupidly modified Leon's will not be worth as much as the standard equivalent or they'll even be deemed unsaleable, therefore when mr chav comes to sell his car he will probably struggle to keep in the 'good car market' not meaning to sound like a snob.

i must admit when looking for a tdi i wante a mk4 golf more than anything BUT.....
the insurance on seats is so cheap thats why chavvy bois want them cos there the best looking car, best value for money and with decent money spent very fast..
i did my car up to have the lcr kit because2 years ago there was only 1 near me (my mate spencer) now there is at least 7-10 i can tell you of
i hope they ont become chavvy but who cares i had mine before that stage i just like to think people copied me;)

early leons ibizas focus etc are cheap now so will be in the price range of younger drivers etc
i think the word chav is used too much to descibe modified cars as personally i would prefer a modded car to turning up to a show etc and see a dozen look alikes of my car yes boy racers are a pain they do sometimes spoil there cars but the only way would be to raise the driving age to 25 orso and make the roads safer

The Chav's are starting to grow out of being chavs and are finding out that if they get jobs, work harder and get paid more, they can afford such luxuries as Leons. Its a way out of chav-dom!

to be honest,i dont think its fair to brand young drivers as 'chavs'. im 20,got my car at 19,and i love performance. perfect recipe for a chav. but yet,iv not done anything rediculous, not driven like a maniac, not even generated interest from the pigs. even in my saxo i was pulled a few times, never in my leon.

imo, when you get into a leon, you become more responsible, you know you have the power, and pride on that, and you know you dont need to show off to anyone. this is how i feel, however i do know some1 who has a cupra R and drives like a maniac...

its the personality of the driver, not the age.

chav is a very over-used word in todays society and most people using the word don't really know what a chav is its juust a complete genralisation. i think judge a person by what they do and how tastefully they do it, not the car they drive as we all have individual taste's.;)

I think as Leon owners were pretty safe. Not many people have clocked onto the fact that we're driving a cheaper & better looking (in my opinion) version of the Golf, Leons are rare themselves let alone seeing chavs racing around in them.

I agree with the point about driving Leon's better, I certainly drive mine a lot less erratic than my escort, you just sit in the drivers seat and feel the need to be kind to it until its got some warmth in it

The Leon gives a lot of driving pleasure, its nice to drive, comfortable, good looks and you can get your foot down when you need to overtake.

I guess I know that i've just spent 3K on the old girl and she's an awesome motor, it deserves treating well, but at the same time it was built to shift.

Oh yeah forgot to say. I always look in the classifieds etc and very rarely see any Seats for sale let alone Leons. They just seem to be that bit more exclusive still

I personally dont think the Leon will become a "chav" car as its seen by many as a fast big family car. Most still go for the trusty saxos and corsas but i've noticed that the Civic type R (ek9/ep3) is a total performance bargin at the min and a lot of lads my way have cottoned onto this and there are LOADS about now. They can be modded pretty cheaply as well and are pretty quick.
